Our client an international provider and leader in the Medical Science space is looking to hire a hands-on Controller. Recognized nationally and internationally for their expertise, credentials, and treating the most challenging fertility cases, they have been voted and recognized for their excellence. This individual will lead a small team of clerical level/operational accountants and will report directly into the CEO/President. This highly visible role requires accounting/financial leadership experience combined with Medical or Healthcare industry experience.
Responsibilities:
- Lead preparation of management accounts – P&L, BS and CF
- Ensure cash controlled with visibility of spend, tax and insurance paid
- Guide financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures
- Protect assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls.
- Manages the (closing process preparation and review of all journal entries to be entered for each monthly financial statement), and analyzes for completeness and accuracy
- Manages the overall preparation of financial statements and ensures the general ledger and related records are properly maintained
- Reviews and audits all check requests, employee payroll checks and expense reports to insure that supporting documentation is complete and appropriate.
- Manages and recommends the implementation of policies and procedures for the general ledger, payroll, and accounts payable areas of the group to ensure established accounting policies and procedures.
- Evaluates various projects performed by staff to ensure priorities and appropriate procedures are being maintained.
Management:
- Collaborate effectively with other departments, including operations, development, sales and marketing
- Liaison with tax accountants, auditors, bankers, insurance brokers, lawyers, etc
- Comply with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; filing financial reports; advising management on needed actions.
- Maintain financial staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees.
- Protect operations by keeping financial information and plans confidential.
Controller Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA/MBA a plus
- 5+ years experience
- 2+ years accounting/financial leadership experience
- Medical/Healthcare industry experience highly preferred
