Job Description:
- Own from end to end all of the company’s accounting and bookkeeping processes, timelines and tools
- Manage the month-end, quarter-end and year-end close.
- Ensure the integrity and accuracy of the company’s monthly financials
- Create dashboards and monthly reports that highlight variances, cash flow, and other changes to financial factors
- Prepare periodic P&L forecasts
- Responsible for the timely preparation of the period end financial statements in accordance with GAAP
- Actively make recommendations to the CEO and VP, Strategic Planning and Analysis on how to improve the operations/finance department.
- Become a trusted partner to the finance department at our parent company
- Assist with the preparation of the company’s taxes; work closely with our external tax firm and accountants with the preparation of all international, federal, state, and city tax filings
- Ensure the company is in compliance with accounting practices for accrual accounting including the proper capitalization and amortization of expenses associated with IP projects and merchandising inventory
Requirements:
- Active CPA license required
- Experience in retail, merchandising, or agency preferred
- Experience in a “Big 4” firm preferred
- Experience in cash flow management and forecasting
- Public media or entertainment experience is preferred
- Proven hands-on experience managing extensive SEC filing processes
- Outstanding technology, analytics and management experience required
- Able to build and deliver effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds Experience working in a dynamic and changing company environment a plus
- Strong communication skills, both verbally and in writing
- Proven analytical skills – defining problems, collecting relevant data, drawing valid conclusions, and recommending improvement/corrective actions
Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance and MBA or similar advanced degree is highly preferred.
- A minimum of 10 years’ relevant experience including as a Controller preferred
