The Client Account Executive (“CAE”)
– Banking & Financial Services (“BFS”) is a core member of Ballard’s Business Development team and is responsible for identifying opportunities for current and potential clients, as well as implementing plans that generate new business in the BFS industry.
Reporting to the Chief Marketing and Business Development Officer, who will directly report to the Chair of the Firm, this position will provide strategic guidance and achieve specific business development, marketing, client retention and expansion objectives of our BFS industry team (described below) and its constituent members.
This CAE that will work closely with Partners, Practice Group Leaders, the Firm members of Ballard’s Marketing and Business Development team and BFS industry group leaders.
Some travel will be required.
The CAE will support the efforts of the BFS industry group to generate revenue through strategic and cost-effective business development activities, working in coordination with the firm’s Marketing and Business Development team and others as appropriate.
Key accounts will include investment and commercial banks, alternative capital providers, insurance companies and institutional investors.
The candidate must be energetic and be knowledgeable about the legal industry and the BFS industry sectors and be able to provide leadership in achieving effective business development and marketing plans and activities.Essential responsibilities include:Developing and leveraging deep sector, client, and practice knowledge alongside group leadership.
Responsible for managing a targeted group of existing client accounts, achieving high sales targets and building relationships with new clients.
Building new business relationships using existing industry contacts.
Playing an integral role in new business pitches.
Responsible for the development and achievement of new business generation goals for new and existing clients.
Researching and recommending new high-potential business channels and targeting and segmentation strategies to promote Ballard Spahr throughout the U.S.
financial services industry.
Required SkillsQualified applicants must possess excellent writing, editing, communication (oral and written), project management, interpersonal, analytical skills, active listening skills and a high degree of emotional intelligence; strong computer proficiency a must, with particular knowledge of Interaction a plus; significant business knowledge and experience; and an intense and proactive client service attitude.
The ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines, combined with a strong and demonstrable understanding of banking, finance and capital markets.Required ExperienceBachelor degree in a relevant area with a minimum five years’ experience in professional services marketing required.
Advanced degree is preferred and significant experience in the BFS industry is highly preferred.
Must have client relationship management experience.
Strong work ethic and team player mentality are indispensable.
Business development and marketing expertise is essential.
