Position Title: Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Employment Type: Full-time Location: Remote (preferably EST or CST) Reports To: Co-Chief Executive Officers Position Summary The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will partner closely with our Co-CEOs and the Executive Steering Committee to chart the organizations future growth and strategic response to a competitive education services environment and an increasing demand for Acceleration Academies programs and EdIncites products and services.

The CFO is responsible for the business services, accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, internal accounting controls, and financial analysis functions of the organization and oversees the areas of Finance and Business Services.

The CFO will be responsible for Additionally, the CFO will be responsible for providing executive leadership, vision, and oversight for the organization and serve as a critical member of the senior management team creating business related strategies and policies, communicating that strategy to employees as well as the Board, and developing an organizational culture that fosters employee alignment with organizational goals.

Acceleration Academies/EdIncites is seeking a mission-focused, strategist, and process-minded leader experienced in recognizing growth opportunities, leading cross-functional teams, and developing a results and innovation-focused culture among a group of diverse and talented individuals.

In this role, the CFO is not simply maintaining our current direction; along with our senior management team, the CFO will be responsible for creating and tracking Acceleration Academies/EdIncites future strategic direction while proactively overseeing the day-to-day activities of the organization.

The CFO will strengthen Acceleration Academies/EdIncites organizational operations through development, design, and implementation of key initiatives and projects, processes, and procedures while translating the strategic direction into tactical plans all staff can relate to.

Using their needed strong financial acumen, the CFO will act as a careful steward budgeting for growth, projects, and innovation, while mitigating risk and appropriately allocating resources.

Role Responsibilities Strategy, Budget and Financial Reporting: Support our Co-CEOs and partner with the senior management team on financial, operational, and strategic issues as they arise; providing strategic recommendations based on financial analysis and projections, cash management and strategies, cost identification and allocation, and revenue/expense analysis.

Focus on strategic thinking and future opportunities, developing business plans for presentation to senior management, CEOs, and the Board.

Provide oversight for strategic planning, priority setting, and overall organization management.

Coordinate the creation, development, and monitoring of the organizations annual budget and projection processes in alignment with its strategic plan.

Work closely with the departmental budget owners in assessing budget goal attainment and recommending, developing and implementing revised strategies where appropriate.

Approve all budgets for grant proposals with the goal to maximize the organizations coverage of its indirect costs.

Ensure timely, accurate and complete financial statements and internal financial reports are issued.

Ensure that all senior management have the financial system tools they need to effectively manage their respective areas.

Prepare materials for the senior management team, steering committee, and Board.

Leadership and Oversight: Direct the work of the Business Services Department staff including training, conducting performance evaluations and establishing performance objectives.

Ensure that a documented system of accounting policies and procedures is in place and effectively maintained at all times.

Maintain organizational financial and operational policies and train other staff on their implementation.

Ensure the on-going planning, maintenance and updating of all of our financial systems.

Oversee the organizations banking relationships as well as the treasury function including budget control and cash/investment management.

Coordinate the development and maintenance of adequate financial processes working with other departments to ensure accuracy in financial processing.

Review and approve all account reconciliations, journal entries and reports prepared by the business services team.

Utilizing third party vendors as needed, oversee the information technology needs of the organization, ensuring financial alignment and cost management.

Review and approval all operations and programmatic contracts for the organization.

Oversee the negotiation of all leases equipment and office space and submit for approval to the CEOs.

Compliance, Monitoring and Grant Reporting: Manage the organizations relationship with its external auditors and provide oversight for the annual financial statement audit.

Assess organizational controls for audit compliance.

As applicable, monitor debt levels and compliance with any debt covenants.

Approve the monthly billings for all grants.

Review and approve all grant reporting prepared by the Academy Operations Team.

Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings and ensure all returns are filed timely and accurately.

Implement all necessary new technical accounting guidance in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).

Required Skills: In-depth knowledge of accounting, financial reporting, GAAP and risk management.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, ability to interact with all levels of staff and to explain accounting terms to non-accountants, experience in effectively communicating key data, including presentations to senior management.

Outstanding analytic, organization and problem-solving skills for strategic data interpretation versus simple reporting.

Demonstrated ability to apply innovative and resourceful solutions to solve complex challenges.

Skilled in the use of Quickbooks and/or Intuit Financial Products.

Education and Experience Requirements: Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration CPA certification and/or MBA required.

10 years of progressive increase in responsibility in financial leadership overseeing business operations and driving significant results.

Experience working with for-profit/profit sharing organizations is a strong plus.

Experience working in educational finance is a strong plus.

A strong record as an effective, team-oriented leader and manager of people with a demonstrated ability to develop and motivate staff.

Experience working with a Board and/or Board committees.

Preferred Qualifications Experience as a CFO and/or Senior Financial Leadership position.

Ability to work with a high-growth company in a co-CEO model.

Experience with a mid-cap, privately held and/or private equity backed company.

Experience with acquisitions, valuations, and mergers.

Experience with Educational Services.
