The Chief Financial Officer is responsible for the financial strategy, financial operations, and compliance and integrity of Coordinated Regional Care Business Segment and each of its geographic operations and legal entities, and will provide leadership, direction, and administration of all financial aspects of the company. This includes strategic financial and business planning, financial analysis and reporting, population health and clinical transformation analytics, support, and insight, financial controls, business & health care analytics, mergers and acquisitions, financial integration, the budgeting process, accounting, audit, treasury, and analytical support to ensure the business is able to execute its short- and long-range business plans.

As a critical member of the executive leadership team, the Chief Financial Officer is a key contributor to strategies, tactics, short and long-range forecasting, and overall efforts to continually improve the operations and financial results of the organization. This individual will work to ensure appropriate accountability and transparency with vigilant attention to business P&L, risk management, internal financial and operational controls, and budget, as well as protection and growth of assets.

Job Responsibilities/Duties

  • Serves as a key partner to the Chief Executive Officer and the entire management team. Provides leadership in the development of business and financial strategies and plans that will effectively support both short- and long-term financial goals as well as ensure marketplace scale and performance. Provides business discipline and operational efficiency to the segment to ensure the segment meets and/or exceeds its key growth and profitability objectives.
  • In collaboration with the Chief Executive Officer and the senior leadership team, sets key financial goals and objectives and generally provides counsel and guidance as a part of the decision-making process. Provides operations management support, as well as financial P&L guidance, on the company’s clinical delivery and population health transformation programs/services to the leaders of each region of the CRC organization.
  • Provides leadership and direction in the development and maintenance of financial and operational dashboards to capture key performance indicators and metrics for financial operations and clinical transformation including attainment of risk scores, quality scores and various pay-for-performance measures management, with comparisons to internal and external industry benchmarks.
  • Actively participates (leads where appropriate) in the business development, merger, and acquisition process, including financial due diligence, risk assessment, and the subsequent integration of projects/acquisitions. Provides financial leadership in joint ventures, partnerships, outsourcing agreements, or other significant contractual arrangements.
  • Develops and continually improves financial reporting and analysis tools and guidelines for the organization and ensure that financial reports meet the needs and requirements of the business and various government and regulatory bodies including stand-alone entities. Develops high quality and timely financial reports tailored to support decision-making across the organization, as well as Board and private equity investors, to ensure a deeper understanding of the business and its key components.
  • Develops risk, capitation, and value-based programs focused on aligned incentives. Leads the process of designing risk management models, socializing risk models, and educating stakeholders to the programs, and oversee the reporting of the programs.
  • Participates in the development and implementation of predictive modeling tools, generating payer and physician report cards, physician surplus distributions methodologies, care delivery at home setting, and designing and distributing standard reporting packages.
  • Evaluates risk contracts to advise executive leadership on potential opportunities, negotiations with payers, and management of the risk portions of those contracts. Provides leadership and direction to ensure the development and application of analytics, financial rigor, and insurance risk to all risk-based contracts.
  • Leads the annual budget process that will drive the operating plan and tracking progress against targets by providing timely and accurate analysis of budgets, financial trends, and forecasts. Monitors ongoing performance against the budget and strategic plans, identify incipient problems and initiate appropriate corrective action to keep the company on its target. Provide leadership and direction over strategic, capital, and tactical planning. Creates standards and processes that balance financial management with long-term strategy.
  • Recruits, selects, and retains highly qualified professionals. Provides the participatory leadership to the finance staff necessary to maintain a motivated, productive, and competent team through open communication and delegation of responsibilities and authority. Guides and directs subordinates in their personal and professional development. Instills a collaborative approach to subordinate’s interactions within the group and across the organization.
  • Provides leadership for the clinical transformation, and health care analytics function and its associated teammates. Creates efficient systems and processes that provide maximum revenue yield.
  • Creates an organization that embraces continuous process improvement, positive change, and supports growth and productivity to consistently deliver stretch results, while readily adapting to a dynamic and changing business environment.
  • Acts as a financial interface with corporate finance and accounting teams, physician and executive leadership as it relates to financial details, goals, and performance to achieve the system’s strategic and operational goals and objectives.
  • Develop and maintain a strong financial culture within various IPA board and organizations managed by the segment.
  • Additional responsibilities may be assigned based on needs of the organization.

Qualifications

Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, or Finance with a CPA and/or MBA preferred

Minimum Experience: Minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience in finance within healthcare services, IPA/MSO/physician practice management, or managed care. Previous experience in a private-equity-backed, high growth company, and/or one that has been through an acceleration of capability expansion and new market entry is highly desired. Extremely organized, disciplined, hands-on, and process-oriented leader who is not afraid of “digging into details” when necessary. Operationally driven and growth-minded with the mindset and business development experience to help evolve the organization’s offering to accelerate and maximize enrollee base. High-energy, data-driven, and focused. Strong work ethic, achievement-oriented, ethical, and motivated beyond personal interest. Proactive and action oriented. Strong people management and leadership skills. Highly effective and active communicator who works well with people at all levels. Ability to problem solve and approach work from a “return on investment” perspective.

Req. Certification/Licensure: Certified Public Accountant preferred.
