Assistant Director of Budget Finance/Controller University of California Los Angeles Requisition Number: 39193 Salary: $4,700 – $12,592 Monthly Position Description: The Assistant Director of Budget and Finance/ Controller reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in the Luskin School of Public Affairs (LUSKIN) as part of the central Financial Services unit. Primary responsibilities include: advanced financial analysis, monitoring, and post-audit review for various complex funding streams that include general funds, gifts and endowments, Indirect Cost Recovery and Sales & Service for the School’s operating budget of approximately $43 M; four academic departments and 8 administrative units, and 8 research centers/institutes; develop budgets, expenditure reports, projections, and trend analyses with recommendations to the CFO relative to the long-term strategic planning of fiscal resources; manage all aspects of fiscal year-end fund sources, resolve financial issues, and perform fiscal year-end closing actions for all Departmental funds in coordination with unit managers and fund managers as needed. Proactively initiate and implement School- wide financial policy, procedures, and best practices to ensure the optimum utilization of departmental resources. Provide adhoc annual financial information and prepare special reports for the Dean upon request. Manage the career staffing budget to keep FTE and associated funding in balance and coordinate changes to the staffing budget with the Human Resources Director as required. Report financial information to Office of Academic Planning and Budget (APB), including input of financial data directly into the financial budgeting system for review and submission by the CFO; analyze reports to identify causes, forecast assumptions and draft justification. Oversee the annual update of documentation required to meet Statement of Accounting Standards (SAS 115) and timely audit of implementation plans for all administrative units and research centers. Develop resource materials and training tools for unit managers, which promote consistent standards in financial management and analysis school-wide. Other duties as assigned.
