FaZe Clan is the world’s premiere gaming lifestyle company at the intersection of gaming, apparel, eSports, and music. We are seeking an Assistant Controller to help lead accounting operations and take over the close process. The Assistant Controller’s primary tasks include supporting the Controller with the supervision of accounting staff; leading the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes; and reporting updates to the Controller. This role is currently remote, but the company expects an eventual return to an office environment.
Responsibilities
- Drive the monthly, quarterly, and yearly close processes to meet deadlines and ensure timely reporting of financial information to management
- Prepare semimonthly payroll
- Review journal entries and account reconciliations prepared by staff to ensure accurate reporting including reviewing accruals, balance sheet account reconciliations, and income/cost reporting
- Assist with the preparation of GAAP financial statements, including budgeting and forecasting
- Contribute to formulation and strong enforcement of formal policies and procedures to strengthen internal controls
- Assist staff with goal setting, development, and regular assessment to maximize their potential
- Detect and prepare process improvements to streamline reporting and improve team efficiency
- Lead and coordinate year-end audits including being the main point of contact for senior audit personnel
- Perform ad hoc tasks for the Controller and CFO when required
- Backfill for Controller when necessary
Requirements
- This role is hands-on
- Proficient in enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems. Working knowledge of NetSuite is highly desirable
- Extensive experience in month end closings
- 8+ years of accounting experience preferably with a mix of big 4 public accounting and high-growth company experience
- CPA certification required
- Excellent written, verbal, and social communication skills highly desired as this role will involve interaction with Controller and upper management
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or analogous major, with minor or concentration in accounting
- Demonstrated ability in analytical and quantitative skills
- Knowledge of some technical accounting such as ASC 606
- Ability to multitask, communicate, and collaborate effectively with other teams within the company
- Extensive proficiency in MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint
