ACT-1: Controller – Cost Accounting And/Or Governmental Contracting Up To $100k

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES?

Oversee and direct the day-to-day accounting activities, budgeting, analysis, human resources and information technologies activities for the organization.?

Directs the Accounting Department by establishing procedures and systems necessary to maintain proper records and strong accounting controls.?

Appraises the organization’s financial position and issue periodic (monthly), financial and operating reports.

Prepares monthly account reconciliations, physical inventory reconciliations, journal entries, and financial statements.?

Maintains the cost accounting system including updating current costs and prepares reports on raw material consumption.?

Analyzes studies of general economic, business, and financial conditions and their impact on the organization’s policies and operations.?

Provides interpretation of financial policies, governmental legislation, accounting theory, or customer financial regulations.?

Makes recommendations to management regarding cost saving or profit generating opportunities and profitability improvement strategies.?

Coordinates with all levels of management to gather, analyze, summarize, and prepare recommendations regarding financial plans, acquisition activity, new business planning, trended future requirements, government requirements, and operating forecasts.?

Researches and prepares economic reports on subjects such as rate of return, depreciation, working capital requirements, investment opportunities, investment performance, and impact of governmental requirements.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:Hires and manages accounting staff (A/R and A/P).

Hires and manages Human Resources Administrator (payroll is managed by a third-party service) and Information Technology Administrator.

Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.QUALIFICATIONS:Requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Bachelor’s degree (B.

A.) from four-year college or university; five to ten years of experience in areas of accounting management and finance of monthly financials, budgeting, costing related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.COST ACCOUNTING and/or GOVERNMENTAL CONTRACTING ?

Ability to understand and analyze costing trends and principles, assist in preparing cost allocations and rationale for use and justification in preparing governmental defense contract bids and overhead allocations.Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.SOFTWARE SKILLS ?
