Accounting Manager

Responsibilities

  • Performs financial management, forecasting and analysis; and assists in the development of financial policies and procedures
  • Assists in the monthly close process, including auditing of monthly account reconciliations, posting journal entries and budget variance analysis
  • Maintains bookkeeping and financial statements of subsidiaries of the firm and the foundation of the firm, including tax returns
  • Participates in the maintenance of corporate accounting principles, practices and procedures for the firm’s fiscal records and financial reports
  • Performs financial analysis in support of management to help identify and solve problems and evaluate opportunities
  • Manages fixed asset accounting and reporting
  • Assures the system of internal controls and procedures in place to protect company assets are being followed and that business operations are consistent with established policies
  • Assists in preparation of annual budgets
  • Assists with Financial and Employee Benefit Plan audits
  • Participates in the preparation of quarterly and annual tax returns
  • Coordinates business licenses, annual reports and personal property tax returns of offices in various states with staff accountant
  • Organizes and oversees the schedules, work, and productivity of the team
  • Manages their departments efficiently and in accordance with departmental goals
  • In accordance with policy and with the support of the department head, makes hiring and selection decisions for staffing
  • Provides performance feedback and completes evaluations that are timely and constructive
  • With the assistance of HR and the department head, handles discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy

  • Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting or standing for prolonged periods
