Accounting Manager

Primary Job Functions We are looking for an accounting manager who will be responsible for all the financial reporting and compliance requirements.

The position will supervise a staff accountant and requires strong independent problem solving and analysis skills.

The position reports to the Controller, however, heavily interacts with others on the finance team, Management, Operations, Marketing and Sales departments, outside auditors, tax agencies and other parties.

Principal Accountabilities End to end financial accounting and reporting for the business, reconciling sub-ledger to general ledger, preparing appropriate ledger entries, accruals, reconciliations and maintaining the general ledger system.

Assessing and improving internal controls, including performance of periodic risk assessments and reviews of risk areas Assisting with budget preparation and preparing the monthly budget variance analyses Oversight of the maintenance and reconciliation of fixed assets schedules Assist Accountants with understanding GL accounts and correct accounts to use when processing charges or credits.

Aid in the preparation of the external year-end audit requirements.

This includes supplemental reporting, gathering documentation, and providing information at the request of the external audit staff.

Manage insurance audits by working as direct contact to gather and review all requested documents and answer related questions.

Oversight of the process to balance daily cash Prepare or review monthly balance sheet account reconciliations Constantly monitor monthly P&L to research and resolve coding errors Tax reporting, including monthly WA excise tax and NV Quarterly Sales and Use Tax and OH Quarterly Cat Tax.

Research and resolution of any tax notifications from outside agencies.

Effective communication with operations, customers, sales and internal staff on accounting entries or adjustments made to the financial statements.

Travel expense backup for training, and oversight of monthly reconciliations, and appropriateness of accounting.

Oversight of the completion of all US Department of Commerce surveys Review of payroll accounts including COBRA, garnishments, GL mapping for Payroll system, resolution of adjustments to payroll account with the Payroll Department to obtain support documentation and resolve disputes, review of checking account to identify voids and errors.

Oversight of the application for any new payroll jurisdiction accounts and maintenance of UKG updates of any withholding tax changes.

Provide post audit of expenses and proper accruals for month end close.

Process Management & Functional Expertise Champion a culture of continuous process improvement Use expertise to interpret accounting practices, assess impact and enforce compliance.

Implement controls framework, controls testing plan and execution.

Implement accounting for special projects, transformations, and other ad hoc business requests, including implementation of new systems or business models.

Reporting Issue timely, accurate, and complete financial statements Evaluate the effectiveness of accounting software and associated systems, continuously improving efficiency.

Coordinate with corporate teams on various monthly and quarterly reporting requirements, on time and with high quality Compliance Deliver the annual audit process; expect minimal audit findings.

Execute compliance for all financial and operational aspects of the business, compliant with local, federal, and global regulations, and effectively manage risk (e.g.

tax, audits, insurance, etc.) Key Competencies Leadership Functional / Technical Skills Integrity and Trust Problem Solving Supervisory Function & Technical Demonstrated expertise of financial control systems and financial statement preparation, balance sheet and P&L.

Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with ability to convey information in understandable terms at all levels of the organization.

Ability to execute daily and monthly activities with minimal supervision.

Solid understanding of accounting and legal limitations Must have a high degree of self-direction with the ability to constantly seek innovative ways to perform tasks in an efficient and timely manner.

Ability to work in a multi-task environment with multiple and sometimes conflicting priorities and specific time constraints.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.

CPA preferred.

Minimum 5 years of general accounting experience in a product company with both distributor and direct to consumer sales, CPG preferred.

Strong ERP systems experience, Sage X3 preferred, and strong Microsoft Excel proficiency.

Knowledge of Microsoft Teams and experience in working remotely a plus.
