Accounting and Operations Manager

SUMMARYThe Accounting Manager is responsible for all areas relating to financial reporting.

This position will be responsible for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements.

The Accounting Manager supervises accounting and operations staff, and is responsible for managing the team to ensure that work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner.

This position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger preparation, financial reporting, year-end audit preparation and the support of budget and forecast activities.

The Accounting Manager will report to the President/COO and facilitate outside accounting resources.Requirements:ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESAssists in the development and execution of accounting policies, procedures and directives to ensure the smooth operation of daily accounting activities.Prepares balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other financial reports.Analyzing trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations incurred to predict future revenues and expenses.Reports organization’s finances to management, and offers suggestions about resource utilization, tax strategies, and assumptions underlying budget forecasts.Manages and reviews all journal entries prior to release and manages internal and external audit activities.Directs the work activities of subordinate employees.

Conducts performance appraisals, reviews and approves schedules time off requests.

Resolves grievances and takes disciplinary action or terminates employees when necessary.

Instructs department personnel in the operation of computerized accounting systems.Manages computerized accounting systems.

Works with system developers to identify accounting needs including report generation and data analyses.Responsible for the distribution of computer accounting reports, and ad hoc analysis.Various revenue commissions and variable compensation calculations.Assist with system and process changes.Facilitates audits, both internal and external.EDUCATIONBachelors’ degree (B.

A.) or equivalent from four-year College or technical school;EXPERIENCE4 or more years’ experience in accounting.

Extensive knowledge of GAAP is required.

Experience with accounting practice within an ERP, preferably web/cloud based.

Experience with NetSuite ERP is desired.

CPA is desired, but not required.
