Accountant I

Position Summary:

Manage deposits and disbursements on all accounts. Run accounts payable and accounts receivable ageing reports to determine correct timing of outgoing payments, and to identify which receivables need to be tracked down. Interact with internal and external individuals to gather information and resolve problems.

Essential Functions:

· Cash Deposits for all accounts

· Post cash receipts in Riskman

· Stop Payments on uncleared checks as instructed and when necessary.

· Enter invoices into Riskman A/P module

· Accounts Payable on all accounts (Oper & Trust)

· Run Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable Ageing Reports

· Perform check runs and obtain the necessary signatures for checks

· Interact with outside and internal personnel to resolve payment/receipt discrepancies.

· Accounts Payable filing

· Open and route mail

· Yearly 1099 processing and filing

· Run ITC’s and ITC report for Brokers

· Prepare analysis and adjusting journal entries needed for monthly close

· Assist Senior Accountant with tax filings

Other Responsibilities:

· Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

· Work closely with Senior Accountant and VP of Finance and Accounting in identifying other projects where skills, experience, and knowledge can be utilized.

Education, Experience and Skills Required:

· Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Business degree preferred

· Effective organization, follow-up, communication, and interpersonal skills

· Possess an intuitive and proactive approach to business problems and solutions

· Exhibit good listening skills and a willingness to help and support others

· Intermediate skill level in PC software (Word, Excel and other software, as required)

· Ability to be flexible in work schedule as needed

Work Environment

· Physical activities of job are within the normal expectations of an office environment where the amount of standing, walking, sitting, reaching, and other movements are within the control of the incumbent.

· Vision requirements are in the normal range, correctable with glasses or contacts, where color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception have no significant impact on job performance.

· Working environment is generally within the confines of an office where normal climate conditions support effective job performance. Some daily travel may include limited time spent outside in the elements as part of the normal commute.

· Risk of exposure to hazardous materials, electrical shock, explosives, radiation, vibration or airborne particles are at the extreme minimum. Protective clothing is usually not necessary to effective job performance or safety.
