Primary Responsibility / Summary

The Accounting Clerk assists in general Business Office clerical operations and performs basic accounting functions.

This is an entry level position.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

1.

Creates new Accounts Payable (A/P) vendors in accounting system.
2.

Assists in the preparation of all month-end reporting including, but not limited to, the balance sheet summary, non-restricted, temp restricted capital campaign endowment and non-endowment fund transfer schedules.
3.

Ensures company funds are transferred to the appropriate bank account.

Ensures checks are signed and deposited for assigned accounts.
4.

Performs daily bank reconciliation for assigned accounts.
5.

Prepares journal entries, including insurance, as assigned.
6.

Assists the Assistant Controller in the month end closing.
7.

Prepares monthly and Ad Hoc accounting schedules.
8.

Aids in the preparation of appropriate monthly, quarterly, and annual government reporting packages, including 571 business property tax, census, use tax, welfare exemption, and others.
9.

Obtains Fixed Assets information from Accounts Payable as needed.

Reviews and prepares capital expenditures as needed.

Inputs information in the fixed assets system.

Balances the reports to ensure they agree with the general ledger totals.
10.

Provides administrative support as needed for Business Office functions.
11.

Other duties and special projects as assigned.

Education & Experience

1-2 years of accounting experience.
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.

Other Qualifications

Shift flexibility and overtime when needed.
Ability to handle confidential information.
Non-profit experience preferred.
10 key by touch.
Team player.
Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
Punctual and dependable attendance.
Free from alcohol and drug abuse.
Understands the basic philosophy of Goodwill and participates fully in carrying out its mission.
