Job Summary: *This is an intermediate junior level position* Performs professional financial operations duties that involve the application of judgment and discretion in the analysis and application of accounting principles and practices in maintaining fiscal controls and records, preparing transactions and initiating reports.

This position reports to the Chief Financial Officer.

The position works with Specialists in both Accounts Payable and Payroll and may provide assistance and/or direction from time-to-time to these positions.

The Director of Finance acts as the primary campus-level contact for accounting operations.

Responsibilities:

Maintain required state corporate and/or academic registrations including timely periodic reporting

Administration of corporate card services including user management and internal support services

Maintain accurate student account records ensuring accurate billing and regular communication

Support Financial Aid to assist with student account inquiries and living expense disbursement questions

Manage invoicing for external business partnerships

Assist in the preparation of annual budgets

Assist with year-end financial audits

Maintain required records, reports, and files in an organized manner

Maintain communications, both internal and external to the organization, as required to fulfill job duties and responsibilities.

Provide assistance in gathering reports from the payroll and accounts payable departments for review, input and creation of operational reports.

Assist Chief Financial Officer with periodic internal auditing of accounting transactions as required by the organization.

Analyze financial data and prepare detailed monthly variance reports.

Attend all business and management meetings as required by the organization.

Pursue ongoing professional development and training.

Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by the Chief Financial Officer.

Required Education, Experience, and Skills:

Bachelors degree in Accounting or related field.
Two to five years related experience in progressively responsible roles.
Previous experience in proprietary education highly preferred.
Must demonstrate attention to detail.
Experience with Great Plains software preferred but not required.
Strong interpersonal, organizational and training skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Thorough working knowledge of computerized accounting system(s).

Physical and Mental Requirements:

Physical Requirements: Sitting, standing, bending reaching, stooping, walking and moving intermittently during working hours.

Ability to maintain verbal and written communications with co-workers and outside business associates.

Ability to travel occasionally.

Mental Requirements: Alert and attentive; ability to remember locations, names, people.

Analytically competent.

Work under pressure and manage multiple tasks.

Environment: Work often in clean, well-lit, heated and cooled office area.
