POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is primarily responsible for the accurate processing of payroll, payroll reconciliation, entering and updating employee payroll data, administration of payroll system, and assisting with the administration of employee-related benefits. This position is responsible for communicating with payroll vendors to coordinate timely payroll processing and distribution. This position will serve as a point of contact for payroll and assist with new hire orientation to introduce new employees to company payroll procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Accurately enter new hire information into the payroll system.
- Accurately enter changes to employee payroll data including salary changes, retirement plan deductions, funding allocations, and other payroll-related transactions.
- Review timesheet submissions, verify appropriate approvals have been made.
- Review pay calculations and deductions for accuracy.
- Maintain garnishment records, apply required deductions accordingly, and prepare remittances.
- Transmit payroll to Paycom for processing.
- Communicate with Paycom to resolve technical issues that may arise.
- Prepare and distribute manual paychecks when required i.e., final paychecks for terminating employees and paychecks to employees who have not elected direct deposit.
- Prepare journal entries for payroll-related expenses.
- Stay up-to-date on federal, state, and local payroll regulations and apply accordingly.
- Receive and respond to employee inquiries regarding paycheck and benefits, escalating issues when necessary.
- Research and correct payroll-related errors.
- Maintain workers compensation, and 403(b) reports.
- Assist with gathering documentation and reports for departmental audits.
- Assist with New Hire Orientation as requested, including employee review of payroll procedures and overview of benefits in the Cafeteria Plan.
- Assist with benefits enrollment in Paycom as requested.
- Support other departmental positions as needed.

REQUIREMENTS:
Training and Experience:
- Associate degree OR High school diploma or GED and 2 years’ experience in payroll.
- 3+ years payroll experience using an electronic payroll system required; Paycom experience preferred.
- Knowledge of payroll regulations including overtime, garnishment, withholdings, terminations, etc.
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) a plus.
- Experience working with Abila MIP accounting software preferred.
- Proficient in the use of MS Excel and Word.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This is primarily an office position that requires only occasional bending, reaching, stooping, lifting, and moving of office materials weighing 25 pounds or less. The position requires daily use of a computer and requires entering, viewing, and revising text and graphics on the computer terminal and on paper.
