Job Purpose
The School Counselor promotes and enhances the school’s overall academic mission by providing services that strengthen home, school, and community partnerships and address barriers to learning and achievement.
The School Counselor significantly contributes to the social, emotional and behavioral growth and development of students by developing and assisting with the implementation of individual and school-wide strategies, interventions and programs.

Essential Job Functions
Demonstrate knowledge and support of Celerity Educational Group’s mission, vision, policies, and procedures, and charter petition.
Adhere to the California Standards for the Teaching Profession and the ethical standards set forth by the CTC in issuing your Pupil Personnel Services Credentials.
Provide small-group and individual counseling for students in grades TK-8 (with or without IEPs).
Schedule, facilitate, and participate as a member of the Coordination of Services Team (CoST) meetings.
Conduct Suicide Risk Assessments to students demonstrating at-risk behavior.
Attend IEP meetings for students with DIS-counseling and report student progress to parents and staff as well as collaborate with the IEP team.
Prepare IEP documents using Welligent and/or SIRAS (web-based IEP writing system) including: writing present levels of performance, creating appropriate goals, behavior intervention plans, making recommendations for counseling services, and preparing quarterly progress reports.
Develop and assist with implementation of Section 504 Plans; schedule and attend Section 504 Plan meetings.
Conduct classroom observations of students to help determine needs and/or to help assure generalization of skills learned during counseling sessions.
Conduct classroom observations of students to help determine needs and/or to help with positive behavior support and/or behavior modification.
Consult with school staff and parents regarding the behavioral, social, and emotional needs of students, and recommend appropriate support strategies.
Provide classroom and/or school-wide presentations for students, parents, as well as professional development for staff on a variety of topics.
Collaborate with community agencies and refer students and families to appropriate community mental health resources as needed.
Develop and coordinate activities that prepare Middle School students for matriculation to High School.
Serve as member of Celerity Educational Group’s Crisis Intervention Team.
Maintain accurate student records, in accordance with Celerity Educational Group’s procedures.
May serve as member of Student Success and Progress Team.
May serve as member of Celerity Educational Group’s Suicide Prevention/Postvention Planning Council.
During district/state testing, may proctor tests with accommodations for students with 504 plans/IEPs.
Perform other duties, as required and assigned.
Qualifications
Education Required
An earned Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university
An earned Master’s Degree from an accredited university in School Counseling or Social Work
Certification:
Required
A valid CA Pupil Personnel Services credential
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of and experience in the use of counseling and guidance techniques with elementary and middle school pupils.
Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with colleagues, other District personnel and community representatives and agencies.
Knowledge of the growth and development of children and adolescents, learning theory, and mental health concepts.
Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents and school staff.
Ability to work effectively with adults in a consultative role.
Understanding of the relationship between the total education program and counseling/ guidance services.
Ability to work effectively with all racial, ethnic and socio-economic groups.
Ability to compose and comprehend written communication.
Ability to travel to other sites/locations.
Mobility to traverse all areas of the worksite.
Ability to sit and stand for periods of time and the manual dexterity to perform keyboarding tasks.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $54,806.40
– $86,625.80 per year
