Program Assistant- Transitional Housing Program for Youth

We provide emergency and permanent housing options and other community based services that create opportunities for them to lead productive lives.

We operate in Los Angeles and community East and South East of Los Angeles County.

JOB TITLE: SPA 4 Transitional Housing Program Assistant

The primary responsibility of the program assistant is to support the case manager in delivering case management and other supportive services to youth living in Jovenes Transitional Housing Program in Service Planning Area 4.

Due to the nature of the program, flexibility in the schedule is required including availability to work some evenings/holidays/weekends to ensure contact and supervision of youth.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Support case manager with housing applications.

Perform general administrative functions such as input of notes in Clarity, answering the phone and responding to in-person inquiries in a professional manner.

Provides appropriate information and referrals for those who need other resources.
Initiate and maintain effective, cooperative working relationships with community partners, public and private organizations.
Develop life skills training for youth, including upkeep and maintenance of residential units.

Monitor and develop corrective action plan related to house upkeep and shared living.
Listen attentively to resident complaints and suggestions and address their issues fairly and professionally, coordinating with other departments to resolve resident/ prospective resident complaints and inquiries and relaying information and/or resolution to resident/prospective resident.
Maintains written and oral communication of incidents in accordance with policies.

Follow agency policies and procedures related to grievance and other issues related to the program.
Coordinate outreach with Coordinated Entry System for SPA 4 and matcher to maintain the program at full occupancy.
Cultivate partnerships with community stakeholders and public agencies to expand opportunities for youth in the program.
Participate in all staff meetings, on-going training, program evaluation, and program development and implementation activities.
Maintain appropriate and professional resident relationships with particular attention to professional boundaries.
Support case manager in upkeep of clients’ files according to contract compliance standards.
Support case manager in updating Clarity for the program according to contract compliance standards.

Ability to reach with hands and arms
Ability to use computer keyboard up to 50% of the day
Visual acuity, ability to adjust focus and peripheral vision for work on a laptop or other computer equipment
Ability to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds

Equipment and Computer Software Skills and Abilities:
Computer literate (basic working knowledge of Microsoft WORD, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint)
Able to use telephone, office copier, calculator, fax machine, computer printer and scanner, or other equipment as required
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATES & TRAINING
Minimum AA degree or 4 years of experience in a relevant setting
Experience working with transitional aged youth, individuals with mental disabilities, low income families.
Demonstrated ability to work with a culturally diverse clientele & staff
Bilingual and fluent in English and Spanish a must
Valid California driver’s license and personal vehicle insurance carrier relating to clients, staff agency representatives, community members and others.

Pay: $19.00
– $23.00 per hour
