Position: Visual Merchandiser 277 Department: Visual Merchandising Reports to: Assistant Manager, Visual Merchandising Direct Reports: No FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Location: Job Purpose: The Merchandiser will be responsible for providing merchandising & styling direction through creativity, competitive analysis and forward thinking.
He or she will help to ensure that the corporate visual direction is of the highest caliber and in line with current trends.
Deliverables: Review product information and develop elevated, trend forward concepts Ensure that trends, merchandising and styling techniques are brand appropriate and in line with competitors Participate in floorsets, merchandise updates, launches and in-store visual set-ups; travel and assist with new store openings as needed Photograph and write verbiage for visual directives ensuring to meet the deadlines set forth by the Visual Department Management Team Research upcoming trends through competitive analysis, street style, blogs, runway and magazines on a daily basis Create and communicate Visual Training initiatives as they pertain to styling for the field teams to reference Visit stores, work with field leaders and provide feedback and solutions to store specific issues that is in line with brand and most recent merchandising and styling direction Responsible for providing alternative solutions based on feedback in order to work through call outs Collaborate with all cross functional HQ partners to ensure that visual merchandising and styling direction provided is in line and consistent with brand message and departmental needs Create solutions and new ideas, always taking into consideration how to elevate, move forward and evolve Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications: Must have an Associate or Bachelors degree in Fashion, Merchandising, Design or a similar field Must have 2-4 years of experience in merchandising for a retail fashion company Must be able to work early or overnight shifts and travel surrounding/remote markets to help provide field leadership teams with feedback, solutions and guidance Must be able to work through consistent feedback and work in a fast paced environment in order to maintain the brand message and meet tight deadlines Must maintain a positive, team oriented attitude in a high energy environment Must have exceptional styling skills.
This includes a strong understanding of fashion and latest trends in all markets Must be able to think outside of the box and work with a high sense of urgency Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) and the use of digital cameras Must have strong grammar, written and verbal communication skills Must have excellent attention to detail, prioritization, organization and time-management skills Must be able to maneuver within a corporate environment Must be able and willing to lift and carry up to 50 lbs., perform frequent standing, walking, repetitive finger, hand and wrist motions, as well as bending, stooping, reaching, squatting, kneeling, pushing, pulling, climbing ladders Must be able to stand and/or sit for extended periods of time About Forever 21: FOREVER 21, is an American fast fashion retailer headquartered in Los Angeles, California.
