Maintenance Supervisor

Overview Allied Reliability is seeking an experienced Maintenance Supervisor for a direct hire opportunity with a reputable manufacturing company in the Cedar Rapids, IA area The Maintenance Supervisor provides leadership and direction to plant maintenance department and contractors responsible for repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment in manufacturing operations.

Responsible to eliminate all causes of failure and ensure full useful life in coordination with daily maintenance completed by operating personnel.

Schedules repair, maintenance, and installation to ensure continuous production operations.

Creates and manages the maintenance and stores budgets.

Inspects operating machines and equipment for conformance with operational standards.

Reviews production, quality control, and maintenance reports and statistics to plan and modify maintenance activities.

Responsibilities Position Responsibilities: Maintains and promotes safe work practices at all times and participates in safety programs.

Directs employees for holding safety huddles, safety audits, and participation in safety programs.

Analyzes mechanical, electrical, control and operational problems of production, air, vaccuum & boiler equipment through personal observations, maintenance programs and operator feedback and plans for and takes corrective actions.

Walk the floor to review work or equipment in action.

Review work plan for variances.

Conducts Daily/Weekly Operating Report with employees to address variances and Operating Equipment Effectiveness gaps.

Coordinates, arranges, and supervises or provides for the completion of corrective and preventative maintenance in accordance with standard operating procedures, of all processing practices, and financial considerations of equipment to minimize plant down time.

Develop Area Master Maintenance List.

Coordinate tasks, critiquing on-going and finished work, sets priorities and other responsibilities as authorized.

Generates follow-up work orders from off conditions noted on Preventative or Emergency Maintenance where a repair cannot be correctly completed.

Generates follow-up work orders from work lists.

Review and adjust schedules for work load and labor.

Adjust Work Order priority.

Reviews Break Down Analysis and suggest plan of action or recommendation to root cause.

Approves Work Orders and assigns appropriately and efficiently.

Provides recommendations for budgeting and maintains cost control for area of responsibility.

Provides support to the Capital Program.

Including but not limited to execution of assigned capital projects.

Provides recommendations to the capital program based on equipment reliability plan for area of responsibility.

Develop Reliability Improvement Plan for area of responsibility.

Maintains working relationship with Contractors and Vendors to maintain equipment reliability and keep abreast of equipment obsolescence and new technology.

Maintain Vendor contact for sourcing and ordering materials and supplies for direct repair.

Provide oversite and management to Contractors and Vendors on site.

Provide oversite and management on Maintenance Repair and Overhaul inventory levels for area of responsibility to meet R&M and financial objectives of the Facility.

Including but not limited to providing inventory recommendations based on equipment Bill of Materials and Spare Parts List.

Implement Operating Equipment Effectiveness improvements.

Schedules, supervises and directs the maintenance mechanics / e-techs / apprentices in all maintenance efforts of production equipment.

May also include buildings HVAC systems and water treatment and wastewater treatment control systems.

This includes repair and installation of various water treatment and wastewater treatment equipment systems.

Responsible for maintaining the incoming fresh water and wastewater treatment control systems.

This includes repair and installation of various water handling equipment.

Responsible for maintaining skills flexibility matrices and training of maintenance mechanics.

Develops resident subject matter experts.

Assures effective and efficient utilization of assigned labor, equipment, and repair parts to maintain control of maintenance cost.

Reviews production schedule and coordinates with production.

When Refrigeration & Boiler equipment is not scheduled for manufacturing, directs changes over of new equipment or scheduled maintenance.

Oversees implementation of maintenance apprenticeship program.

Maintains and improves skill level of maintenance staff.

Supervision: This position will provide direct support and supervision for Technicians and Apprentices in the Maintanence department and will manage time punches in Kronos.

LI-CC1 MON Qualifications Experience, Skills, and Education Requirements: Preferred Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Journeyman Certificate or related fields.

3 years of experience as a Maintenance Supervisor.

Adequate written and oral communications to be able to interface with production.

Proven leadership skills.

Must have basic knowledge in the uses and operation of all tools of the trade including but not limited to PLC’s, servo’s, control systems.

Must have a thorough working knowledge of machine dynamics, and various processing equipment.

Must be able to distinguish colors and hues.

Must have above average dexterity.

Must be able to safely perform tasks in any area of the plant.

Must be able to make and read drawings, sketches and schematics.

Have a working knowledge of plant layout, equipment and specifications and operational needs.

Must have a working knowledge of applicable federal and safety codes and where required, be licensed / certified.

Must possess good organizational skills Equipment Operation: Must be familiar with all production and maintenance equipment.

standard office equipment including copier, scanner, mobile / handle held device, and personal computer.

Physical Demands: Must be able to sit at a desk for extended periods of time and lift up to 40 pounds occasionally.

Must be able to stand and walk the production floor for extended periods of time.

Must be able to climb, reach, walk, sit, stand and use specific vision abilities.

Work environment is a production facility involving moderate to loud noise levels.

Ability to travel up to 10%.
