We are currently seeking a Certified Phlebotomy Technician I for our on-site Health Care Center in the city of Los Angeles, CA.
JOB TITLE: Certified Phlebotomy Technician I
DEPARTMENT: Laboratory
STATUS: Full-time
SCHEDULE: Day Shift / Monday – Friday w/ Rotational Weekends and Holidays
Job Duties:
- A phlebotomist’s first duty is to make sure that they are drawing blood from the right patient.
- Verifies test requisitions by comparing information with nursing station log; bringing discrepancies to the attention of unit personnel.
- Obtains blood specimens by performing venipunctures and finger sticks.
- Maintains specimen integrity by using aseptic technique, following department procedures; observing isolation procedures.
- Tracks collected specimens by initialing, dating, and noting times of collection; maintaining daily tallies of collections performed.
- Performs bleeding-times tests by entering results to the computer; notifying pathologist of results falling outside normal ranges.
- Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
Job Requirements:
- Minimum 1 year of experience
- Qualified candidates must be California State certified in Phlebotomy (CPT I or CPT II)
- Valid CPR Card from American Heart Association OR American Red Cross ONLY.
- Proof of MMR, Varicella vaccinations or titers (within last 12 months)
- Must have a current TB/PPD or Chest X-ray (within last 12 months)
Education Requirements:
High school graduate or equivalent, plus licensure of California Certified Phlebotomy State License. (CPT I License).
