Tech Writer (Arbortext)

Technical Writer Location: Columbia, MD / Elizabeth City, NC Industry: DOD / Military / Surveillance / Intelligence Pay: 34.00 – 40.00 Contract to hire Create and maintain technical manuals and training materials customers on the operation and maintenance of aerostat systems and their supporting equipment.

These activities may include the development of multiple types of media.

This individual shall be able to write technical documentation, development plans and organize technical documentation development efforts.

This position requires strong oral, written, and interpersonal skills, in order to maintain contact and work effectively with all levels of management, employees and outside parties.

This individual will work with partners, subcontractors, and customers.

The Technical Writer must work effectively in a team environment, interfacing with a group of technical writers to complete technical documentation development with minimal supervision.

The individual shall have experience with developing documentation in MIL-STD format using XML.

Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a technical and/or Business Management discipline.

Military (DoD) training and/or experience is a plus.

The candidate shall have a minimum of five years technical writing experience, attention to detail and familiar with industry used / recognized publications and training standards.

Experience with technical writing in XML and/or Arbortext, is a plus.

Must be able to obtain a U.S.

DoD Secret Clearance.

Computer Background: Proficient with MS Office Products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint ) required.

Familiarity with graphics tools, computer based technical manual authoring tools (i.e.

Arbortext), and modeling tools such as Solid Works is a plus.
