The healthcare industry is challenging, but Cedars-Sinai Human Resources is pursuing outstanding service and support for a talented workforce inspired by those challenges, engaged in their work, and deft in their ability to adapt to the ever-changing environment.What you will be doing in this role:* Serves as in-house employment legal counsel, including performing as a lead over the employment-related litigation function and providing employment and regulatory law advice.

Promotes compliance with federal and state employment laws, including but not limited to equal employment opportunity and wage and hour laws and regulations.* Provides support for review and processing of independent contractors, such as individual consulting agreement requests.* Responsible for managing and advising on the Cedars-Sinai separation agreement process, including drafting, reviewing and revising separation agreements.* Lead responsibility over employment-related claims and litigation, including providing guidance and performing as a lead to HR Compliance staff with regard to litigation-related work.

Includes oversight of all phases of litigation, input regarding retention/selection of outside counsel, management of own cases, and other direct (“hands-on”) involvement as needed.* Serves as in-house employment legal counsel.

Provides legal advice and guidance to Human Resources professional staff and Cedars-Sinai management staff relative to complex or sensitive employment decisions or situations, including but not limited to wage-hour/pay practice issues, discrimination, harassment, and other employment law related items.* Responds or manages response to, as appropriate, demand letters received from attorneys of current or former Cedars-Sinai employees or other individuals.* Drafts and/or oversees preparation of position statements in response to agency complaints filed by current or former Cedars-Sinai employees, including Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), Department of Fair Employment and House (DFEH), Division of Labor Standards Enforcement (DLSE), Department of Labor (DOL), and others.* Monitors trends and assist in developing interventions to address issues as appropriate; provides privileged and confidential reports regarding same.* Creates and fosters a collaborative and positive relationship building dynamic with internal staff.

Provides education, consultation and coaching to HR and management, and other Medical Center staff, as applicable.* Provides support for review and processing of independent contractors, such as individual consulting agreement requests.* Responsible for managing and advising on the Cedars-Sinai separation agreement process, including drafting, reviewing and revising separation agreements.* Promotes compliance with local, state and federal laws; and accreditation, professional and regulatory agency standards and licensure requirements.* Maintains staff and program compliance with relevant organizational policies and procedures.* Collaborates to problem solve and make decisions to achieve desired outcomes* Establishes effective working relationships with cross-functional team(s)* Shares knowledge, time and expertise to assist other members of the team* Acts as a team lead to include overseeing the work of others, assigning or allocating work to team, and ensuring tasks are completed according to deadlines and quality standards.Educational RequirementsJuris Doctor required.License/Certification/Registration RequirementsLicensed Attorney (CA)Experience5 years quality employment litigation experience, either in a law firm representing large, complex organizations or as in-house counsel in a large organization.
