– 65.93Job Duties:As a Histotechnologist, you play a crucial role in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases by turning tissue samples into microscope slides.
Primary duties include: Prepare sections of human tissue in a variety of sizes and types, including fixation, processing, sectioning, and a variety of special stains Cut thin sections of kidney, GI, skin, eye, and bone marrow biopsy; cut whole mount prostate, whole human and mouse eye; cut decalcified tissue Perform H stain and variety of special stains both manually and by using an automated stainer, such as Ventana Manage supplies and laboratory quality-control procedures Job Qualifications: HT or HTL ASCP certification Minimum of one year experience in histology for HTL I and 5 years of experience for HTL II Skill in embedding a variety of tissue types and sizes with correct orientation Skill in sectioning all types of tissues Skill in performing all ranges of special stains both manually and by automation Ability to run the tissue processors such as VIP, Sakura Xpress, and Peloris Flexibility to work outside of normal shift hours, including weekends and holidays Excellent communication skills Ability to participate in conferencesBargaining Unit: EXLayoff Referral Deadline: Posted Date: 8/4/2021Posting Category: Clinical Laboratory
