UCan do all this and more at UCLA Health.In this key leadership position, you will be responsible for workflow, quality, and reporting activities for all facility coding services (inpatient, ambulatory surgery, emergency and observation) as you ensure the coders achieve their productivity and quality goals.
This will involve assuring compliance with Coding Clinic, The Joint Commission (TJC), Office of Statewide Planning and Development (OSHPD/MIRCAL), and Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) standards.
You will:* Assure the timely, efficient, and accurate coding completion of medical record accounts* Respond to coder questions for all issues related to 3M 360 Encompass, EPIC (CareConnect), PwC SMART and other relevant systems* Report job performance, attendance and quality issues* Participate in employee discussions, interviews, evaluations, and disciplinary actions* Provide backup support for inpatient, outpatient and ED service coding* Maintain CMS and AHIMA professional and ethical standards within the staff* Enforce Health System and Medical Coding and Clinical Documentation Department policies and proceduresQualificationsWe’re seeking a self-directed, detail-oriented leader with:* Five to seven years of supervisory experience with inpatient acute care coding and outpatient surgical/ambulatory care coding* ICD-9-CM/PCS and CPT-4 coding proficiency* Knowledge of DRG/APC payment methodologies, AHA Coding Clinic and CPT Assistant* Ability to professionally collaborate with internal/external customers* Ability to orient and train new / trainee coders* Bachelor’s degree highly desirable* RHIT, RHIA or CCS certification preferredUCLA Health is a world-renowned health system with four award-winning hospitals and dozens of primary care practices, specialty practices, urgent care centers and other ancillary locations throughout metro Los Angeles.
