Junior Legal Affairs Counsel (English + Spanish Fluency)

The Role

Jellysmack is seeking a detail-oriented Junior Legal Affairs Counsel to join our Global Legal team, with a heavy emphasis on contract drafting and revision for our rapidly expanding Creator Program. This individual will be responsible for tracking agreements throughout the deal flow process — from initial request through execution. This junior to mid-level attorney role will include drafting, redlining and revising agreements and other legal documents under the supervision of the Director of Legal Affairs, Creator Program, maintaining an organized legal documentation system, performing analytical and/or organizational projects, and supporting the negotiation of agreements as needed.

The ideal candidate is excited by the opportunity to work on a high volume of contracts in the constantly evolving social media creator space, adept at taking and implementing productive feedback, and motivated to build rapport and trust with legal and business team members.

This position requires cross-functional collaboration with our global offices (including Los Angeles, New York and Paris). Ideally, this individual will be located in the Southern California area, but the position is a remote-first position. Mexico and LATAM are the global regions for which this individual will be primarily responsible.

Requirements

The Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, and revise agreements and amendments utilizing legal department templates and in accordance with legal affairs best practices.
  • Directly liaise with the Creator Partnerships team throughout the entire deal flow process.
  • Manage and update various Creator Program legal templates.
  • Create, organize, manage, and maintain a library of negotiated language and other legal memos.
  • Track contract process and prepare status reports as required.
  • Assist in contract negotiation and agreement interpretation issues, including recommendation of contract language and strategies to achieve business goals in compliance with company policies and legal affairs best practices.
  • Take on additional legal and business affairs projects and responsibilities as may be directed from time-to-time by a legal supervisor.

The Qualification

  • Fluency in English and Spanish.
  • Must have experience working with legal documents in English and Spanish. Please note this on your resume.
  • Licensed to practice as an attorney in the location where they will work (CA admission preferred).
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of relevant legal experience in a high-volume, fast-paced legal environment.
  • Experience practicing entertainment law, preferably in digital/new media and the social media creator space. High quality and relevant paralegal or legal assistant work experience obtained prior to admission as an attorney may substitute for the minimum legal experience requirement.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including great attention to detail and proofreading skills.
  • Great multi-tasker with excellent judgment and the ability to prioritize as necessary to effectively meet deadlines.
  • Desire and ability to work closely and collaboratively with legal and business team members while proactively and independently taking ownership of projects within the scope of the Junior Legal Affairs Counsel role.

Strong computer skills, including pro?ciency in MS O?ce software programs and Adobe software; experience with Monday project management software is a plus.
