Position Overview

Our Systems Engineers are some of our most highly valued and versatile team members. As part of a multi-disciplinary team, you will work alongside our elite engineers to build world-class battery systems. They are primarily responsible for envisioning how the product will be taken from concept to production, defining the system architecture, identifying requirements, and leading the technical team to successful product launch. This person should know enough about mechanical, electrical, and software engineering to speak intelligently about all of them and understand their interaction. Additionally, a Systems Engineer will be responsible for overall system design and integrity, will lead design reviews, and will answer to the highest levels of the organization with respect to the technical aspects of a product. This is the ideal role for an exceedingly sharp engineer who is insatiably curious about all aspects of engineering and wishes they could be involved in everything!

Key Roles & Responsibilities

  • Systems Engineering of battery system
  • Work directly with hardware, software and algorithm engineers to design, develop, implement, and test battery management system
  • Support functional safety concept definition and implementation
  • Deep dive into log data to root cause system level issues and facilitate rapid issue resolution in collaboration with domain experts
  • Work at all levels of the V-model to ensure system delivery
  • Maintain an integrated view of product and safety life cycle
  • Act as the technical liaison with customers during the detailed engineering phase
  • Conduct design for manufacturing (DFM) reviews of products
  • Manage requirements and perform change impact analysis
  • Perform system DFMEA, track corrective actions, drive design changes

Basic Qualifications

  • BS/MS in a relevant Engineering field (Energy, System, Automotive, Aerospace, Electrical, Computer, Mechanical)
  • Minimum of 6 years experience with automotive vehicle systems or similar applications
  • Strong working knowledge of automotive electrical systems and communication protocols and relevant debug tools
  • In depth knowledge of interaction of mechanical, electrical and software components in a complex product
  • Exceptional analytical problem-solving skills, able to identify and surface issues within complex HW/SW systems
  • Effective communicator and excellent attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience fulfilling ISO26262
  • Battery system design/test background
  • Systems integration experience, working closely with thermal, mechanical, electrical, and software teams
  • Experience with requirements management tools (i.e. Helix ALM, JAMA, DOORS, Polarion)
  • Experience working in fast paced startup environment
