The Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery of the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California is recruiting at the Assistant/Associate Professor of Surgery level for a BC/BE Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon with training and/or experience in gender affirmation surgery and microsurgery. The candidate will help lead a developing multidisciplinary team geared towards meeting the needs of one of the largest transgender and gender nonconforming populations in the US. The multidisciplinary collaboration involves providers from plastic surgery, urology, medicine, otolaryngology, speech pathology, adolescent medicine, and behavioral health at Keck School of Medicine, LAC+USC Medical Center, and Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. A successful applicant will have surgical expertise in the treatment of transgender and gender nonconforming individuals, including facial feminization and top and bottom surgery. The candidate will also participate in general plastic surgery and microsurgical cases at the LAC/USC Medical Center, a level 1 trauma center. This diverse practice involves head and neck, breast, and lower extremity trauma. The individual will demonstrate a commitment to academic priorities of education and clinical or basic science research. The academic rank of the successful candidate will be determined by experience.
Plastic Surgery at USC is a multi-venue enterprise which allows the interested practitioner to practice in diverse clinical environments of a tertiary referral Keck Hospital, a vibrant safety net County Hospital with an international reputation for burn and trauma care, and a highly ranked Children’s Hospital. The faculty is academically focused and comprised of a group of highly trained faculty with a broad range of clinical interests. The applicant will have access to a wealth of resources, including (need to edit this list) research support, advance practice providers, a craniofacial orthodontist, and other faculty within the Division and Medical Center with expertise in transgender health.
