This position will work out of 2 locations: West Hills and Sherman Oaks.
Responsibilities SCOPE:Under general supervision, provides professional nursing care for radiation oncology patients adhering to national and company standards and guidelines that recognize the physical, psychological, and spiritual aspects of patient careParticipates in company-wide quality initiativesSupports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business StandardsESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Assess and monitor patients using appropriate technical skills under the direction and supervision of a physician, including new patient consultations, office visits, weekly patient checks, and any urgent patient issuesMaintains efficient and appropriate patient flow including ensuring that patients undergo appropriate medical work-up and interventions as ordered by the supervising physicianMaintains patient flow to ensure patients start radiation treatment in a timely mannerCollaborates with other members of the department, including office manager, physicians, front office, radiation therapists, physics and dosimetry staff, medical assistantsCoordinates patient care with other offices, including medical oncology and surgical oncologyServes as a resource provider to the medical assistantsTriages patient/family phone calls as needed and documents relevant information in the patient electronic medical recordAssess patient/family needs and provides appropriate RN level teachingDemonstrates awareness of community resources available to patients and assists with referrals if necessaryProvides nursing coverage at satellite offices as neededAssists with procedures Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Graduate from an accredited school of nursing, BSN preferredRN state license and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in practicing statesMinimum three years of experience preferred, but new graduates consideredRadiation oncology or oncology background preferredBCLS*N
