Director, People & Culture

Based out of our Los Angeles office and reporting to the VP of People & Culture, the Director of People & Culture is a credible, people-driven leader that supports the full employee life cycle.

This role will be an integral part of our People & Culture team, where developing new and exciting Human Resources strategies and implementing them will be a very important part of the responsibilities.

From the development of onboarding processes and programs to performance management and employee relations, this Director is a dynamic and charismatic leader who establishes relationships within the agency at all levels and functions as a critical team player in areas that foster a unique and engaging employee experience.

A diverse background in the HR Generalist role and Employee Relations disciplines will be essential to success in this role.

Objectives:

Providing solid recommendations and implementing policies pertaining to complex topics included but not limited to: recruiting, retention, performance management, employee relations, leaves of absence, workplace culture, rewards & recognition, and professional development, will be essential.

Evaluate and audit our processes at scale for future growth.

The necessity of taking a proactive and hands-on approach is highly emphasized.

Responsibilities:
Manage HR Administrative needs of the agency such as new hire/temporary employee onboarding, benefits, performance management, and recruiting best practices while partnering with the Director, Talent Acquisition.  Manage the annual performance review process by partnering with varying levels of management while effectively managing the performance review cycle in HRIS Evaluate and develop scalable employee processes Ensure employee and organization changes are recorded in HRIS Partner with Finance for payroll needs, ensuring employee changes are processed timely Coach and counsel managers in regard to employee performance, corrective actions, and if necessary, terminations Collaborate with the VP and implement people programs that are engaging, exciting, and impactful for our culture Manage employee relations process Adhere to and manage compliance reporting such as annual, EEO-1, and ACA reporting Manage employee leaves of absence and other employee relations activities, escalating complex issues where necessary Collaborate with the talent acquisition team on interdepartmental initiatives Supervise and inspire junior members of the team Manage HR related project deliverables in accordance with department and company goals Manage and track accurate records for retention purposes Collaborate with senior leadership on new employee policies 
Requirements:
B.S./B.A.

Degree in Human Resources or related field or equivalent experience of 10+ years of progressive HR experience  Minimum 5 years direct HR Management experience with a proven track record of managing employee relations Minimum 5 years managing employee benefits, including open enrollment preparation Possess a strong knowledge base of employment best practices and multi-state compliance, with a strong emphasis on California employment requirements  Proficiency working directly in both employee relations, benefits, LOA, and recruitment is highly desired Must be a credible and inspiring leader, leads with empathy, and finishes with results Strong understanding and application of State, Federal, and local employment laws and compliance mandatory, multi-state experience  Proficiency and understanding of 401(k) retirement plans Must be able to handle and manage conflict effectively  Ability to maintain confidentiality and interface with individuals at all levels, both inside and outside the organization Extremely organized, detail-oriented and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment, able to manage competing priorities
– great at managing projects  Must be a credible business professional who is able to positively influence and advise others Outgoing with great interpersonal skills Excellent verbal and written communication Must have great presentation skills, comfortable and thrive speaking to employee groups Strong problem-solving skills Must be able to respond to unforeseen circumstances  Must be available on-call for occasional urgent Administrative needs  Proficiency with the Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides) Proficiency in Microsoft Excel  Strong oral and written communication skills Proficiency with Namely HRIS and Greenhouse ATS a plus Experience working in a marketing agency environment is highly desirable Must be reliable, possess a solid work ethic, and willingness to contribute new processes for a relatively new department Resourceful, able to make things happen Must have a strong desire to work in a Multicultural Agency environment  Must have employment authorization to work in the US without sponsorship
