About the Role
We are looking for a Staff Software Engineer with a very strong understanding of front-end development. While leading other engineers, you will create an expansive, feature-rich web application and provide a clear example of engineering excellence
Working at Sketchy
We are headquartered in Los Angeles but have teammates that collaborate remotely from cities across the United States. As travel and working conditions return back to normal, we will find opportunities to increasingly meet and collaborate in person. While you will always have a seat to work from at our Los Angeles HQ, our transition to a remote-first company will allow you to work from the location of your choice in select states across the country
Location: This role is open to remote employees in select US states: Texas, California, New York, Hawaii, Illinois, Colorado, Massachusetts, Washington, and Washington, D.C
Key Responsibilities:
* Design, build and scale sophisticated web components and interfaces
* Mentor junior and senior software engineers on the team
* Estimate the size and complexity of work for planning
* Create technical designs for features and socialize them with your team and relevant partners
* Partner with product, visual experience, and other engineers to create the best possible experience for students and other engineers by providing clear insight into technical requirements and limitations
* Advocate TDD and write unit, integration, and E2E tests
* Promote a collaborative work environment, drive and coordinate engineering team/cross-team/company-wide initiatives
* Steward for best practices and coding standards to the team
* Construct a growing ecosystem of web applications
Preferred Experience:
* Must have at least 3 years experience with Angular
* Experience with unit testing & Test Driven Development (TDD)
* Experience with a variety of software architectures
* Experience with a variety of API architectures
* Be able to code and architect front-end solutions with multiple types or architecture
* Demonstrated ability to explain complex technical issues to both technical and non-technical audiences
Education:
* BS/MS in Computer Science or a related field
