SOFTWARE ENGINEER (BACKEND) to join our Search and Discover/Commerce Product Engineering team based out of LOS ANGELES, CA.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
Design, develop and operate services and applications that run on AWS powered infrastructure Collaborate with product/program management and QA to execute the product vision Build a scaled search experience as well as new ways of discovering products Be comfortable creating secure and scalable APIs for CRUD interfaces and for user facing applications using Oauth, JWT, similar authentication techniques Build a robust distributed cache that can scale to millions of API requests and page views using Elasticsearch, Redis Ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing priorities in a dynamic landscape Willing to work in a team and perform code reviews.
Building culture and setting standards for coding practices.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
5+ years of total backend experience using either Node.js, PHP, Python, Ruby, Java, or .NET with at least 4+ years experience working with Node.js Strong Computer Science fundamentals with competencies in architecture, object-oriented programming and system design Experience building cloud based, distributed, resilient systems with the ability to handle large and variable traffic volumes Experience with both SQL and NoSQL Databases.
Experience with Lambdas and the Serverless framework Deep understanding of web technologies: HTML/CSS, JS, REST/JSON.
Familiarity with content management systems Experience with CI/CD: Git, Github, CircleCI Experience with PHP and the Lumen/Laravel framework
NICE TO HAVE:
BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
Familiarity with Typescript Async message queue with Kafka, SQS, RabbitMQ Experience with Server Side Rendering with ReactJS Understanding of Docker/AWS Services Experience with Agile/Kanban methodologies and best practices Excellent communication skills and the ability to have fun in a small team environment
