Motorola Solutions is a world leader in the field of professional mobile communications systems with an impressive heritage of technological innovations and a global base of installed systems. The group’s main business is the implementation of mission critical digital mobile communication systems for Government & Public Safety Communications customers.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Post-sale implementation and maintenance of mobile communication systems. 
  • Manages maintenance customer service needs spanning multiple products integrated into a single system configuration. 
  • Performs system hardware and software installations on a project basis, plus manages customer service needs through routine system maintenance. 
  • Primarily focused on Astro, Digital, and Simulcast Trunking concepts. 
  • Basic networking familiarity for the support of MCC consoles, Data, and network products. 
  • Multi-site trunked and voting conventional systems, data networks, and dispatch centers. 
  • Provides primary point of contact for 2-10 customer sites as well as infrastructure backup for other technologists.

Additional Skills Preferred:

  • The ideal candidate will have 7+ years of system experience.
  • Understanding of antenna theory and propagation.
  • Experience with logging recording systems, RF interfaces, wired/wireless communications systems and networking equipment.
  • Understanding and experience of Motorola technology and solutions working with RF infrastructure technologies to include Motorola radio systems, console systems, ASTRO conventional and P25 trunked equipment is strongly preferred.
  • Must have very strong knowledge of wired communications systems, such as local area networks (LAN) and wide area networks (WAN), must be proficient in computer network installation, configuration and maintenance systems to include cabling, routers, switches, firewalls and bridges.
  • Must be capable of installation of server hardware/OS and software infrastructure and troubleshooting to resolve system/application related issues.
  • Must have strong knowledge in standard telephony and dedicated data circuits, as well as knowledge of packet switching techniques.
  • Must be highly computer literate and proficient in Microsoft, Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access.
  • Must have strong self-management skills and “people” skills to work closely with Motorola’s customers and subcontractor (MSS) community, as well as Motorola Sales, Engineering, Project Management, and customer service teams.
  • Must be self-motivated and self-managed to perform the required duties working in a team and on your own with little to no supervision.
  • Ability to multi-task and work independently of supervision.
  • Must have strong written and verbal skills.
  • Must have strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • High energy, enthusiasm and highly motivated.
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds.
  • Willingness to travel by land and air.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.


Basic Requirements

  • 3-5+ years of technical training and experience working as a System Technician
  • Must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent certificate
