The Senior Accountant performs a variety of professional level accounting duties involved in preparing, maintaining, analyzing, verifying and following up on financial transactions, statements, and records. The Senior Accountant performs accounting for and administration of venture capital investment pools. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with exceptional problem solving and critical thinking skills as well as the ability to excel in fast-paced and customer service-oriented professional environment. Essential Job Functions: Performs month-end close and year-end close activities, balance sheet and income statement account analyses.Prepares journal entries with proper supporting documentation.Monitors and researches variances noted during various financial and variance analyses on financial statement accounts.Assists with budgeting and forecasting.Maintains and monitors interests in various venture capital funds, special purpose vehicles and direct stock holdings.Prepares documentation and analyses for the support of tax preparation for various entities.Develops committee meeting packs and communicates with firm professionals and external professionals.Creates and maintains documentation of accounting processes and procedures.Identifies and participates in the implementation of process improvements.General: At all times, demonstrates cooperative behavior with supervisors and coworkers. Other duties as assigned, dependent on organizational needs and employee skills. Qualifications: Experience: 5-7 years related experience, specifically experience in finance and accounting. CPA a plus.Education: Bachelors degree required (preferably in business administration or related field).Problem solving skills: Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills required.Communication Skills: Superior interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Excellent customer service skills to external and internal constituents. Excellent listening skills and follow through.Technology Skills: Computer literacy, including strong Excel experience, and mastery of Microsoft Office software. Working knowledge of enterprise accounting software and a willingness and ability to learn appropriate database, spreadsheet and other computer programs.Project Management Skills: Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to lead and manage projects, prioritize work effectively and adjust to multiple demands. Team Work & General Skills: Highly motivated, with the ability to work independently, take initiative, participate as an effective and engaged team member and follow tasks through to completion.
