Providence is calling a Director of Nursing (Full time/Day Shift) for Providence Saint Elizabeth Medical Center in North Hollywood, CA.

We are seeking a Director of Nursing who will be responsible for the administration and management of nursing services to residents in accordance with the orders of the physicians and the total needs of the residents.

Demonstrates proficiency in delivering care to assigned age
– specific resident population (geriatrics), and participates in related continuing education.

In this position you will:

Establish and maintain departmental policies and procedures, objectives, improving organization performance program, safety, environmental, and infection control standards

Select, train/orient and assign department staff.

Develop standards of performance, maintain/upgrade nursing objectives, nursing procedure manuals and written job descriptions for nursing personnel.

Evaluate performance, and makes recommendations for personnel actions

Establish schedule for all licensed nurses

Coordinate plans for the total care of each resident which comply with physician’ orders, governmental regulations, and facility policies.

Ensure a nursing care plan is established for each resident

Assume responsibility for all discharge planning for residents

Assist in budget planning for nursing service and projects future personnel and equipment needs

Assume responsibility for making the final decision regarding admitting a resident to the facility

Maintain contact with physicians according to resident needs, facility policies, and government regulations

Assume responsibility for all necessary State and Federal nurse staffing requirements including mandated documentation

Coordinate nursing service with other resident care services provided and with the business office

Oversee the management, coordination, maintenance, and implementation of regulatory requirements, Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI), and care planning process

Ensure adequate 24-hour nursing coverage.

Designate a Registered Nurse to be in charge of the nursing service in absence of Director of Nursing

Identify resident needs and develop quality programs to meet those needs and ensure delivery of quality services

Develop and determine priorities and monitor status of special projects on an ongoing basis

Visit residents to ensure maximum care and to ascertain need for additional or modified services, maintaining good interpersonal relationships with residents and their families

Serve on the Resident Care Policy Committee, Pharmacy Committee, Infection Control Committee as required, Quality Assurance Committee (QAPI), and Utilization Review Committee

Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, in-service meetings, and workshops

Participate in hospital/medical staff committee meetings.

Attend and serves on professional/civic service organizations as hospital representative, and conducts/attends departmental meetings

Perform other duties as assigned or requested

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

Associate’s Degree in Nursing

Current BLS Certification

2 years supervisory role or above

Working knowledge of Title 22, OBRA, and MDS regulations

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing

3 years long-term care management experience
