Staff Accountant

Full Job Description NO THIRD PARTY SUPPORT IS BEING CONSIDERED FOR THIS ROLE POSITION SUMMARY Responsible for performing general ledger account and bank statement reconciliation, preparing journal entries and financial statements, creating and maintaining periodic reporting, maintaining fixed assets system, assisting with annual budgeting, expenditures reporting, preparing statistical and financial reports for creditors and agencies, maintaining and records retention.

This position reports directly to the Controller and will occasionally interact with CFO and other Divisions/Departments DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Prepare consolidated financial statements – internal and external, by gathering and analyzing information from departments and the general ledger system
• Assist with the month-end closing process, conducting research, and making correction journal entries for account discrepancies, prepares closing journal entries, posts accrual entries, prepares financial statements, and external audits
• Analyze options and information by verifying information and developing spreadsheet reports
• Prepare ledger entries by maintaining files and records, and reconciling accounts
• Prepare payments by reconciling accounts, accruing expenses, requesting disbursements, and assigning account numbers
• Answer financial and accounting questions by researching into and interpreting data
• Provide accounting support by converting data to general ledger system, obtaining supplementary information for preparing financial statements and reviewing financial information Staff
• Protect organization’s integrity by keeping firm and client information confidential
• Update job knowledge; maintain personal networks; read professional publications; participate in educational opportunities; and participate in professional organizations
• Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously, work effectively in a team environment and meet deadline
• Good at working independently, thinking critically, and offering quality ideas to improving organization’s processes
• Demonstrates effective communication and problem-solving skills
• Perform various complex account analyses and reconciliations
• Reconciles the general operating accounts and payroll bank statements and enters the cash journals into the General Ledger
• Assist in compilation of miscellaneous confidential reports
• Maintains fixed asset system, which includes preparation of journal entries, reconciliations of general ledger to fixed assets system, and preparation of depreciation schedules for budgeting proposes
• Utilizes accounting system, spreadsheet, and presentation software
• Able to take instruction, display knowledge of the work being performed, able to retain and apply skills taught.

• Report suggestion/recommendations to job supervisor
• Perform other duties as assigned EDUCATION:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, or a related field.

EXPERIENCE:

•Working experience, audit and/or cost accounting highly preferred
• Experience managing and meeting multiple deadlines simultaneously
• Comprehensive knowledge and experience of finance and accounting Corporate Accountant QUALIFICATIONS

• Ability to communicate requirements in an industrial environment, and to give effective direction by using written and/or verbal skills where appropriate.

• Mature Customer Service and Client Communications skills.

• Thorough knowledge of general accounting, including skills in the application of both general ledger and cost accounting especially as it relates to Project based accounting
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically use of Macros, Pivot Tables and VLOOKUP’s
• Proficiency in ERP based systems o Experience in Microsoft Dynamics SL/Solomon preferred
• Proficiency in Microsoft Access o Query tool and database mining preferred
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Payroll processes, taxes, benefits, including union benefits highly preferred
• Good command of the English language, oral and written PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
• The performance of this position involves exposure to construction or industrial areas where the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, hard hats and hearing protection is required.
