Doctor’s Assistant (Emergency & Critical Care)
Metropolitan Animal Specialty Hospital is a 24-Hour specialty and emergency animal hospital located in the heart of Hollywood, California. We are looking for friendly, qualified doctors assistants to join our Emergency & Critical Care team. MASH is a new specialty and emergency animal hospital that opened in 2017. We offer specialty and emergency veterinary services and have specialty veterinarians in nutrition, oncology, ophthalmology, surgery, internal medicine, dermatology, neurology, and emergency and critical care. MASH is a newly constructed hospital housing new surgery suites, appointment rooms, treatment areas, and state-of-the-art equipment. MASH is eager to provide the Hollywood and surrounding Los Angeles community with the highest quality specialty and emergency veterinary medicine.
The ideal candidate will have 2-4 years of technician or doctor’s assistant or technician experience. Candidates should be professional, friendly, courteous, able to multi-task. Candidates should have basic computer skills and organizational skills as well as excellent communication and customer service capabilities. The ideal candidate must love animals and be comfortable working around them. Candidates should also be comfortable discussing medications, using medical terminology and interest in helping with technicians and clients. Ideal candidate should be able to do basic technician tasks such as animal restraint and medication administration.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Answering phones
- Greeting patients/clients
- Checking in patients
- Scheduling appointments and procedures
- Maintaining and updating records
- Assisting clients to their cars
- Process payment transactions
- Must relay appropriate information to the doctors/technicians
- Client call backs
- Animal restraint
- Medication discharge/discussing medications with clients
- Gathering patient history
- Assisting the surgeons stay on schedule

COVID-19 considerations:
Currently, clients are not allowed into our facility and all staff must wear masks. Temperature checks occur daily. and staff must step into Clorox foot baths upon entering the facility from the outside. We also have face shields for staff upon request.
