Boeing Defense, Space and Security, In Space Vehicles division is seeking a Lead Propulsion Engineer to multiple satellite product lines, CCTS Starliner, SLS rocket, and other spacecraft.

Ideal candidate will have a background in Systems Engineering, Liquid and/or Electric Propulsion, and/or mission/operations support experience in the field of Propulsion.

We are looking for candidates that have industry experience in one or more of the below key roles: System Engineers Candidates who can demonstrate that theyve supported defining propulsion system requirements, led and performed propulsion systems analysis, defined requirements for propellant loading, and supported Missions activities.

Electric Propulsion Candidates who have helped design, manufacture, or test electric propulsion subsystems and/or candidates who have defined requirements and qualified electric propulsion subsystems.

Candidates who can demonstrate their ability to understand the key failure mechanisms within the thrusters, power supplies, flow controllers and other hardware associated with varying electric propulsion subsystems.

Liquid Propulsion Candidates who have helped design, manufacture, or test liquid propulsion subsystems and/or candidates who have defined requirements and qualified liquid propulsion subsystems.

Candidates who can demonstrate their ability to perform flow analyses for liquid propulsion systems and in-depth knowledge of subsystem hardware.

Mission/Operations Candidates who have helped support satellite or space vehicle flight operations.

Candidates who have helped develop and test flight operations procedures and products.

Candidates who have led on-orbit anomaly root cause and corrective action (RCCA).

Position Responsibilities: Leads definition of requirements for propulsion systems, auxiliary power systems and vehicle fuel and tank systems Leads definition, coordination and control of the functional and physical interfaces between the propulsion system and the vehicle Leads development of specifications and architectural and configuration concepts for associated vehicle systems to meet customer and regulatory requirements Leads configuration and design of propulsion sub-systems and components to meet all vehicle design and performance criteria Leads the use of various testing, analysis, modeling and simulation tools to estimate or calculate system performance Leads the definition and performance of certification tests for propulsion sub-systems and components Leads support of fielded systems by developing responses to customer queries and providing technical recommendations Leads development of concepts for future propulsion systems to meet anticipated requirements Leads mission operations and post-mission support for the propulsion subsystem Works under minimal direction This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S.

Security Clearance for which the U.S.

Government requires U.S.

Citizenship.

An interim and/or final U.S.

Top Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience): Bachelor’s, Master’s or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry 7 years or more in propulsion engineering Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience): A successfully completed Tier 5 Investigation (T5), formerly known as a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) by the federal government is preferred Active Top Secret security clearance preferred Experience with Space based propulsion, fluid systems and/or electric propulsion Typical Education & Experience: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.G.

Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.G.

PhD4 years’ related work experience, Master7 years’ related work experience).

In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Relocation: This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.
