IT Asset Manager

The IT Asset Administrator is responsible for managing the lifecycle of IT assets (hardware and software), as well as the Configuration Management Database (CMDB). The Administrator is responsible for the identification of all IT assets including software, hardware, virtual machines, and cloud services, as well as for ensuring the information is recorded in Cherwell via Hardware/Software Asset and Configuration Item (CI) records. The Administrator is also responsible for tracking CI’s through their full lifecycle from requisition through to retirement and for playing a role in optimizing technology spend and procurement, and for developing the processes, systems, and tools for asset/configuration management.

The IT Asset Administrator works with CI owners to help maintain and validate their data, drive service mapping criticality and incorporate processes to manage their data. The Analyst is also responsible for the validation of and auditing of discovery data, resolving CI conflicts, and mitigating and/or eliminating duplicate records.

Responsibilities

  • Devise and implement processes and procedures for tracking assets
  • Populate and manage the CMDB (Configuration Management Database)
  • Track each asset in order to maintain assignment, location, and warranty information, as well as refresh and renewal dates
  • Collaborate with Procurement, Legal, and other applicable teams to provide input and review of software purchases
  • Define, document, and refine software license and subscription tracking
  • Perform internal vendor software application reconciliations to ensure licensing compliance
  • Identify cost reduction and process improvement opportunities
  • Provide detailed reporting for mobile device costs, growth trends, savings opportunities, etc.
  • Manage the entire mobile device landscape with references to devices, plans, governance, and training for Verizon Admins
  • Provide support for the execution of vendor negotiations.
  • Collect and report KPIs and metrics to measure, review and analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of the CMDB and Asset repositories within ServiceNow
  • Work with various IT teams/SMEs to validate relationship information contained in the CMDB.
  • Implement and evolve a review of CMDB ownership of CIs with stakeholders with an ongoing cadence

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Extensive knowledge of ITIL Service Management best practices is required
  • Thorough understanding of IT asset and configuration management principles and methodologies
  • Ability to effectively communicate at all levels of leadership and with vendor representatives to influence decisions and drive progress

Requirements

  • 5 years of IT Asset Management (hardware and software) experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science or Management Information Systems; combination of relevant education and experience considered in lieu of degree 
  • Certifications: ITIL v3 or 4 Foundation certifications preferred
  • Experience with Cherwell is preferred but other ITSM Enterprise Solution experience will be considered
  • Experience with and/or understanding of Configuration Management

  • Competitive salary commensurate with experience ($75,000-$85,000). Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. MYR Group reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate. Weekly pay via direct deposit.
