Director of Marketplace and Sourcing

ProducePay is looking for a rockstar sales leader to build and scale our Preferred Network.

As Director of Marketplace and Sourcing, you will manage sales for the first ever B2B marketplace for fresh produce.

Your work will directly impact the fresh produce supply chain by creating a more efficient way to buy, sell and distribute fresh produce.
This role will require an acumen for sales, strategy and operations.

Applicants will have direct sales engagements with farmers and distributors, and will need to think long-term to enter new markets.

Preference will be given to applicants with experience in logistics, distribution and supply chain related industries or functional groups.

Applicants should have experience deploying new technologies and constantly seek out ways to drive efficiencies.
The Director of Marketplace & Sourcing will take an immediate leadership role within the company and report to the CEO.

This high-visibility position will require strong management and mentorship skills but also a willingness to take a hands-on approach when needed.
Sales
Outcome The Preferred Network continues to experience rapid growth.

New users are added at an accelerating pace, increasing liquidity in the marketplace.

Cross-selling across products accelerates and ProducePay is quickly seen as the leading platform for Fresh Produce transactions.
Deliverables
The Preferred Network sales motion is well-integrated with the broader sales organization.

Preferred Network sales targets are managed with clearly defined KPIs and effective incentives.

The sales team benefits from a consistent “closer” who can bring in large accounts and sustain their involvement for the long-term.

Effective sales tactics and strategies are well-documented and passed down to junior sales team members.

Each new sales initiative is accompanied by supporting analytics (e.g., market size, customer segmentation, KPIs) and prioritized to align with operational capacity and long-term company goals.

Sales effectively collaborates with marketing to constantly drive down customer acquisition costs and closely aligns marketing campaigns with sales messaging.

Operations
Outcome Customers interact seamlessly with the Preferred Network thanks to well-defined internal operations, hand-offs, customer touch points, rules and procedures.
Deliverables
Preferred Network is tightly integrated with operations to ensure seamless and fast transactions.

Clear procedures and processes in place to enable matchmaking and fulfillment, including mechanisms to mediate customer complaints, ensure on-time payments and collections, and facilitate negotiations between growers and buyers (when needed).

Sales consistently captures emerging customer needs and communicates those needs to the product team, creating a constant feedback loop between the sales and produce
Requirements
Minimum of 7-10 years sales experience, including management of 10+ sales team members General manager with multi-year experience overseeing $100M+ P&L High-energy leader with strong work ethic and willingness to work cross-functionally Demonstrated ability to develop, build, launch and scale new businesses or products Management role in industries with close overlap to ProducePay and Preferred Network (e.g., logistics, payments, supply chain, agriculture, technology) Bi-lingual in English and Spanish Position is based in Los Angeles
