Accountant II

The agency operates a variety of programs to serve the poor and strives to find permanent solutions to crisis situations by offering clients the tools and resources they need to achieve greater self-reliance and stability in their lives.

The Accounting Department is seeking a senior level accountant to be responsible for the day-to-day accounting and budgeting of governmental contracts for selective agency programs.

The position requires the ability to handle complex accounting activities under time sensitive deadlines.

The position also includes monthly close, financial statement and account reconciliation responsibilities.

Responsibilities:
Perform the accounting, budgeting and monitoring of governmental contracts for selective programs.

Interprets financial information and consults with management its use.

Perform financial analysis and summarize results.

Verify, allocate, post and reconcile accounts payable and receivables.

Assist with third party audit request.

Support month-end and year-end close process.

Prepare monthly account reconciliations.

Produces various monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports.

Reviews and maintains general ledger and prepares general journals.

Ad-Hoc and special projects as required
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field Three to five years of progressive professional experience in accounting Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel (pivot tables, vlookups, @functions, etc.).

Knowledge of Microsoft Access a plus Ability to make sound accounting decisions within established guidelines Strong quantitative and analytical skills and ability to remain focused on core responsibilities Knowledge of accounting and auditing practices and principles, including fund accounting Knowledge of applicable laws, codes and regulations, including the Single Audit Uniform Guidance 2 CFR Part 200 Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills Able to communicate with professionals at all levels Able to work with accuracy and efficiency on multiple projects, priorities independently with moderate supervision.

Must be self-motivated, with focus on process improvement Non-Profit industry experience preferred
