Responsibilities: Job SummaryThis position is responsible for providing Occupational Therapy services to clients under the direction of a licensed Occupational Therapist.
Services will be provided to clients with physical or cognitive disabilities to maximize functional independence.
Services are provided in a variety of settings including nursing home, home health care, and other contracted facilities.
This position is responsible for delivery of quality service, promoting good public relations, and for upholding the mission and standards of the facility.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSDemonstrate commitment to Tabithas Crew Code of conduct.Reviews client’s chart and obtains current information that may affect Occupational Therapy treatment.Seeks guidance from supervising Occupational Therapist.Recognizes abnormal physiologic changes and reports them to the supervising Occupational Therapist.Performs Occupational Therapy treatment procedures as delegated by the supervising Occupational Therapist in accordance with the initial evaluation and plan of care.Participates in client care conferences and provides input to the Occupational Therapist for developing the plan of care.Maintains written documentation reflective of the department standard.Participates in the orientation and evaluation of Rehabilitation Aides and Occupational Therapy Assistant student interns.Organizes and prioritizes work to complete responsibilities according to plan within established time frames to meet the clients medical and social needs.Communicates effectively with families, staff and support services to achieve client goals and meet service expectations.Provides client care in a service environment that demonstrates honesty, integrity, compassion and trust.Promote positive client/staff relations according to the mission statement of Tabitha Health Care Services.Follows all policies and procedures for Tabitha Health Care Services and Rehabilitation.Assures delivery of optimum service by reporting to work on time as scheduled, and/or providing appropriate advance notification.Participates in personal and professional growth by attending mandatory in-services and scheduled department meetings and seminars.Follows all safety and infection control policies and practices of the facility and regulatory agencies at all times.Maintains work schedule which allows for coverage in all rehab programs as needed.Attends and actively participates in client care conferences as indicated whenever on duty.Maintains a positive outlook toward employer and work responsibilities.Dresses and conducts self in an appropriate manner according to established procedures.Performs other duties and special projects as assigned by supervisor.NONESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSParticipates in designated department/corporate committeesTeaches in-services relating to Rehabilitation upon request of supervisor and in coordination with Director of Education.Assists in orientation of nursing employees relating to Rehabilitation.
Qualifications: KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIESAbility needed to understand the challenges experienced when working with the geriatric client.Personal traits needed are patience, persuasiveness, flexibility, consistency, tact, resourcefulness and emotional stability to help clients and their families understand the treatments and cope with their disabilities.Must be able to work closely with and follow the direction of designated supervisory occupational therapist.WORKING CONDITIONSIndoor environment and may be exposed to infectious diseases.
Must be knowledgeable of, and follow, all safety and infection control procedures for position including Standard Precautions to prevent injury to self and others.
Traveling is required when conducting home health or contract site visits.
Chemicals may cause skin, eye, or lung irritation if proper procedures are not followed.LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONNebraska Occupational Therapy Assistant License.Valid Nebraska driver’s license and state required minimum automobile insurance coverage required.Current C.P.R.
certification required.EDUCATION/TRAINING AND WORK EXPERIENCEGraduation from accredited occupational therapy assistant school.One year of experience preferred.Geriatric experience preferred.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS NEEDED TO PERFORM THIS JOBRequires manual dexterity and physical strength/endurance to stoop, kneel, crouch and stand for extended periods of time while performing client care.
Requires frequent lifting up to 50 lbs.
