Job Title: Pediatrics-Research Associate 2UC Job Title: 9617-SRA 2 NEXJob Number: req10575Work Hours: 8am-5pm M-FJob Type: limited Duration: 18 monthsWork Location:Los AngelesSalary Range: 25.41 – 40.88Job Duties:As our Research Associate, you will provide technical support and manage thelaboratory which focuses on investigating blood and plasma biomarkers inpediatric acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). Under the generalsupervision of the laboratory Principal Investigator, your major functionswill be to maintain laboratory function and equipment, perform technical dutiessuch as DNA and RNA extraction from human blood and/or plasma, managebiological specimens for various assays, and learn new methods as necessary forresearch advancement. You will be encouraged to think and work creatively with minimal supervision. Results ofexperiments will be reviewed and discussed on a daily to weekly basis. Additionally,depending on the need for lab work vs clinical study coordination, you willalso provide support to the research group in general including but not limitedto helping with our ongoing local and multicentre studies as needed includingscreening, consenting, sample and data collection. Requisite training will beprovided for all clinical coordination tasks. This is a limited term position for 18 months.*May become careerJob Qualifications:Required:Demonstrated skill with extraction techniques of DNA from whole blood samples Experience with genotyping and ELISA for biomarker assays.Knowledge of laboratory safety procedures associated with the handling anddisposal of chemicals and chemical waste, and biohazards and biohazardouswaste. Strong organization skills to maintain detailedlaboratory protocols, ordering information, and inventories of reagents.Advanced molecularbiology techniques.
