The Department of Nursing at the Suzanne Dworak-Peck School of Social Work are seeking a full-time nursing faculty member who will serve as Clinical Placement Director and bring distinction and leadership to the instructional mission of our Master of Science in Nursing
– Family Nurse Practitioner (MSN-FNP) program.

This position is integral to the program’s model of clinical education, with a focus on rigor and excellence.

Ideal candidates will have experience in high-performing nursing and graduate education settings and be knowledgeable about innovative teaching methods.

The successful candidate will also serve as a teaching faculty member for the MSN-FNP program.

We are seeking candidates who thrive in a team environment, work collaboratively with inter-professional leadership, and who value knowledge translation to advance clinical care and health-policy change.

Promoting the health of diverse populations and managing complex care needs of vulnerable populations are priorities.

Required qualifications for the position include:
PhD or professional doctorate in nursing or an allied field, an MSN, and a minimum of five years’ experience Current license or eligible for licensure as a registered nurse in the State of California National certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner; with ability and commitment to stay current through clinical practice (to maintain national certification) Experience building and/or directing a clinical placement program Ability to teach evidence-based practices as well as clinical/laboratory classes and the integrative seminars Effective communication skills and experience as a nursing clinical instructor Leadership in dissemination of ideas and educational expertise to the profession, community constituents and other stakeholders is also an expectation
Major responsibilities for the position:
Collaborate with FNP program faculty to determine program-specific criteria for clinical facilities and preceptors, provide syllabi to preceptors, and teach clinical practica course(s) where applicable Provide oversight for the clinical education of students through establishment of criteria and policies for clinical placements Create a model for clinical teaching and learning, which will be implemented by clinical faculty and preceptors who oversee clinical practica Establish and oversee administration of the process for clinical site visits, approve placements based on established requirements in a timely manner, and problem-solve any placement challenges Participate in determining student clinical remediation plans in conjunction with clinical practica course lead(s) Initial and ongoing training and oversight related to:  providing consultation to the placement team, who are tasked with agency development and placement matching for student clinical practica clarifying program and clinical site/preceptor expectations (clinicians at various clinical sites who will supervise students)tracking clinical competencies in system of record and setting proper clinical expectations with students and preceptors orienting preceptors to placement experience, requirements of the program and expectations of relationship between preceptor, student and clinical faculty working with lead clinical course faculty, managing preceptor/student relationships, troubleshooting challenges that arise at placement sites, and addressing student performance issues related to placements conducting site visits Interview, recommend for hire and supervise program-specific clinical-site faculty (FNPs with a minimum of an MSN; hired by USC to provide oversight on quality of the clinical-teaching and learning environment)
Initial appointments are made for three years, with annual performance reviews, followed by continuing appointments subject to School and University policies.

Clinical field faculty are appointed at the instructor, assistant professor, associate professor and full professor ranks, with opportunities for promotion.

Position available at the School of Social Work City Center, in Downtown Los Angeles.
