Director, Broadcast Services

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Director, Broadcast Services is responsible for the live production of LAFC’s regional television broadcasts. This role is the main logistical and creative liaison between the Club’s broadcast services which includes but is not limited to radio, streaming properties, and digital content. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of the live production process and the ability to articulate LAFC’s messaging and branding through unique video storytelling across multiple platforms including digital, in-stadium, and live broadcast. 
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Executive Produce and coordinate all television and radio broadcasts for LAFC home games.
  • Manage all live club-related broadcasts and build production team for locally televised events.
  • Serve as the main liaison and primary contact between LAFC and its broadcast partners, national broadcast outlets, and MLS. 
  • Ensure all broadcast content adheres and is consistent with the Club’s brand guidelines.
  • Collaborate with the Digital Media team to create innovative and engaging content that will be utilized across LAFC broadcast platforms. 
  • Production lead for all Club’s live broadcast elements, including matches, pre/post shows, weekly programming, press conferences, player interviews, and other LAFC events. 
  • Work closely with all departments, including Corporate Partnerships and Ticket Sales to ensure all programs and partner elements are properly delivered and promoted. 
  • Manage department’s overall budget, including but not limited to equipment, operation, and staffing.
  • Manage and maintain digital archive of LAFC broadcasts, highlights and footage. 
  • Manage and support on air talent negotiations.
  • Other duties as assigned by Management.
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.
 
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited College/University in Broadcast Management or related field required. 
  • 4-5 years experience in live broadcast, television production, or related field at a high-profile venue or professional sports team required.
  • Knowledge and passion about MLS is a plus. 
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple tasks and projects in high-pressure environment with last minute changes. 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced media environment and make quick and sound decisions with many cross functional partners..
  • Ability to provide innovative content for live TV broadcasts. 
  • Familiarity with current patterns and trends in Television production.
  • Forward thinking and highly collaborative with balance of analytical and creative process.
  • Exceptional organizational and communication skills – both written and verbal.
  • Must be able to anticipate problems and identify opportunities to buildprotect the LAFC brand.
  • Must have flexible work schedule with the ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as the event calendar requires.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is plus.
