Under the direct supervision of a physician and within the Nurse Practitioner’s competence, the nurse practitioner serves as an integral member of the outpatient Post COVID-19 Diagnostic and Therapeutic Program. In collaboration with the team, s/he is responsible to provide individualized treatment plans for patients who experience cardiac issues from the COVID-19 virus or preexisting conditions by managing, planning, and coordinating all aspects of care for patients. The NP is responsible to:
- Provide consultative services within the scope of service.
- Obtain and perform history and physical examinations.
- Record and interpret pertinent data (i.e., labs, diagnostic studies, progress notes, etc.), including writing orders under the supervision of a licensed physician.
- Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients under the supervision of a licensed physician.
- Write progress notes, collate records utilizing the electronic medical record.
- Coordinate ongoing overall patient care with physician, staff, nursing staff and other ancillary care providers to ensure treatment plans are implemented.
- Maintain communication with patients and families regarding care.
- Perform assigned work safely, adhering to established departmental safety rules and practices.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Education:
- Master of Nursing Degree required
- Graduate of an accredited Nurse practitioner program required
License/Certifications:
- Current State of California Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner License required
- National Certification by respective accredited professional nursing organization such as the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) required (or eligible to obtain)
- Current NP Furnishing License required
- DEA license required (or eligible to obtain)
- ACLS certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross required
Experience:
- NP experience in acute hospital or outpatient clinic required.
- Cardiology experience is a must
