The position is responsible for the IT portfolio of Medical Device Cardiac Rhythm Management business unit Commercial and Marketing functions. The role understands and contributes to the business strategy and translates it to an aligned IT strategy and portfolio of programs, projects and applications. The position works directly with business clients to understand business processes and translate needs into IT opportunities. The position also collaborates with various IT functions and third-party vendors to ensure consistent and predictable delivery of programs, projects and applications. The position is responsible for prioritization demand and developing and maintaining project/application roadmaps to align with business opportunities, process improvements, and cost efficiencies. The role is also aware of the evolution of technologies and takes into account regulations relevant to the business area.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Excellent understanding of the business processes, strategy and global perspective
- Influences and partners with business leaders (Director, Senior Director and Divisional Vice President level) to understand business strategy, manage and align IT portfolio. Interacts on a regular basis with business leadership to ensure needs are understood and IT updates are communicated on a consistent basis
- Establishes and maintains productive relationships across all levels within the Abbott IT organization and external suppliers. Ensures effective delivery of IT solutions per budget, timeline and service levels
- Supports cross divisional business initiatives and explores IT synergies and efficiencies
- Negotiates for and secures resources to meet the long-range needs of the business. Oversees and controls IT budgets, project capital/RCE expenditures and ROI. Oversees the Business IT project capital/RCE expenditures. Continually looks for opportunities for cost reductions and cost avoidance
- Ability to turn business needs into user and functional requirements
- Reviews IT Statements of Work to ensure they clearly articulate the business need and elevate concern if estimates don’t align with the work effort required to deliver the solution
- Manage IT projects across business unit, and division wide when and where applicable. Participate in business projects based on IT expertise
- Manage issues, risks and decision making within effective time-frame and outcome.
- Champions change and innovation. Stimulates creativity and innovation in others. Open to new ideas
- Responsible for all aspects of people leadership and capacity planning for the IT business relationship management team
- Responsible for compliance with applicable Corporate and Divisional policies and procedures
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING
Required
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Business Administration or another discipline relevant to the Healthcare industry
- 10-12 years of IT and business experience in large or midsized multinational Pharmaceutical, or Health Care organizations
- Experience in setting IT and business strategy and business IT alignment. Strong project management skills.
- Ability to collaborate with business leaders, understand business strategy/processes, look for innovative solutions to drive business enhancements both for internal business users and external customers.
- Broad IT and business expertise in Commercial and Marketing systems (i.e., Salesforce.com) and IT system development delivery and support
- Proven experience and understanding of the complete software life cycle including privacy and security aspects
- Experience with GxP validation, guidelines and regulations
- Strong influence and negotiating skills.
- Excellent communication skills both oral and written with strong analytical and presentation skills
- Experience leading teams – both with direct and indirect responsibility
- Strong organizational skills and proven ability to multi-task across multiple programs successfully.
- Direct experience leading governance boards of large multi-disciplinary projects.
- Successfully managed project portfolio with projects ranging from $1M-$10MM
- Experience with vendor management.
Preferred
- Knowledge of technologies used in data analytics including the following: Analytics visualization tools, Advanced Analytics (AI/ML), Predictive Analytics and Cloud services (Azure and Amazon)
- Evidence of participation in strategic industry forums
