GENERAL DUTIES SOME OF THE TASKS AND DUTIES 1) Performs inspections, maintenance and general repairs on various vehicles and associated equipment, i.E., aerial lifts, digger derricks, cable placing equipment, forklifts, trailer, etc.

2) Works with both large and small tools, diagnostic test equipment and power tools.

Welding may be required.

3) Property handles hazardous material or waste associated with automotive repair.

4) May be required to qualify for State mandated licenses, i.E., smog, brake, headlight adjustment, air conditioning, etc.

5) Performs State smog inspections; may be required to become licensed SMOG Station Inspector.

Responsible for associated paper and record keeping.

6) Performs inspections, maintenance, and repair work on all vehicles including air conditioning, air, hydraulic and electrical brake systems.

7) Makes emergency and roadside repairs.

8) Performs clerical work, i.E., processes motor vehicle records, purchase orders and invoices.

9) Use of computerized test equipment.

10) Use of Mechanized management systems.

11) Drives company vehicles of all types, may drive vehicle to pull a trailer.

May be required to obtain Class A Driver’s License once on the job.

12) All employees who hold a commercial vehicle driver’s license and, as part of their job function, are required or may be required to operate a motor vehicle whose Gross Combination Weight rating of26,001 or more pounds inclusive of a towed unit with a gross vehicle weight rating of more than 10,000 lbs.

13) Receives motor vehicle repair orders from clients as well as from supervisor.

14) Contracts some automotive repairs and services to independent and dealer repair shops, with management approval.

15) Must have knowledge of state vehicle codes and federal and state safety regulations relating to motor vehicles.

16) May maintain motor vehicle parts storeroom.

Involves knowledge of motor vehicles parts and suppliers.

17) May arrange workload for mechanics in shop environment.

18) May assist mechanics with problems.

19) Ability to work on gas, diesel, or alternative fuel engines on vehicles as well as special equipment.

20) Performs inspections, maintenance and repair work on special equipment including, but not limited to, portable generators (110, 220 and 440 volt, both single and three phase), compressors, hydraulic pulling equipment and forklifts.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift up to 100 lbs.

Environment: 1) Works outside as well as in general garage area.

2) Exposed to all weather conditions: rain, heat, cold, snow, etc.

3) Wears appropriate footwear, safety glasses, goggles and hard hat, when required.

4) Works with and around various hazardous materials and hazardous waste products including, but not limited to solvents, cleaners, asbestos and vehicle fuels.

License/Certificates: * ASE Certification (Required) ASE CERTIFICATION IN AUTOMOTIVE, TRUCK, BODY REPAIR, AND/OR ENGINE MACHINES.* Emission Certification (Desired) SMOG CHECK VEHICLES BI-ANNUALLY FOR VEHICLE REGISTRATION.* Motor Vehicle License (Required) POSSESS VALID DRIVER’S LICENSE* Motor Vehicle License (Class A) (May be Required) POSSESS A VALID CALIFORNIA/NEVADA DRIVER’S LICENSE (CLASS A) WHICH INCLUDES PASSING A CALIFORNIA/NEVADA STATE PHYSICAL EXAM.
