Clinical Laboratory Scientist

Responsibilities

As the Clinical Laboratory Scientist of the Transfusion Service within the department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, primary duties include:

*Patient transfusion testing and immunology problem work-ups
*Quality control and quality assurance procedures
*Patient transfusion for UCLA Medical Center, which include trauma and transplant patients
*Record and review test results for accuracy and completeness
*Provide information regarding test results

Qualifications

*Requires a current, California Clinical Lab Scientist License
*Two years of recent clinical laboratory experience in a Blood Bank, preferred
*Experience with MTS gel methodology and solid phase testing, preferred
*Ability to accurately record and collate lab data, and to draw appropriate conclusions
*Must have manual dexterity to perform procedures and maintain instruments, such as pipettes
*Strong written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail
*Excellent organizational, teamwork and time-management skills
