Localization Coordinator I

Our location in Sylmar, CA or Plano, TX, currently has an opportunity for a Localization Coordinator.

Working under general supervision, supports the Manager, Localization with the localization and translation of manuals and labels to satisfy regulatory or marketing requirements and support quality speed to market 

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Monitors schedules for all translation projects and ensures that deadlines are met by contacting/meeting with vendors/Abbott personnel for assigned projects. Obtains answers to questions of timing, meaning, form, format, project schedules, revision tracking, and updates to translations.
  • Publishes reports on project status.
  • Coordinates with team members to supply translation vendors with final English copy.
  • Ensures that translated material conforms to Abbott graphic standards by proof reading final copy and confirming that content is an accurate translation.
  • Ensures that translations are done in accordance with Abbott policies and procedures by following the SOP for translated material, guidelines issued by each site’s Document Control Department, and observing TUV regulations for translated materials.
  • Prepares files for translation. This may include, among other things, comparing versions, fixing graphic file problems, ensuring that all project components are available, obtaining part numbers and/or article numbers, and ensuring that corrections and updates are included.
  • Prepares files for publication. This may include, among other things, page proofing and writing Engineering Change Orders (ECOs).
  • Remains current on developments in and knowledge of the company’s products, markets, policies, and objectives, including regulatory requirements and restrictions.
  • Support all Company initiatives as identified by management and in support of Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and other regulatory requirements.
  • Complies with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments. Maintains positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors.
  • Performs other related duties and responsibilities, on occasion, as assigned

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING

Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Arts with an emphasis on languages, a related field, or equivalent
  • Requires demonstrated written and verbal communication (i.e., English grammar and style), interpersonal, facilitation, presentation, quantitative, analytical, organizational, and follow-up skills, the ability to meet deadlines as well as the ability to converse effectively with all levels of employees.
  • Must possess comprehensive written and verbal communication, interpersonal, presentation, analytical, project management skills and the ability to prioritize and handle a large volume of projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Must be highly organized and attentive to detail.
  • Ability to travel approximately 5%, including internationally.

Preferred

  • Prefer one year of language translation experience
  • Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment.
  • Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Ability to leverage and/or engage others to accomplish projects.
  • Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization.
  • Multitasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in timely manner.
  • Strong organizational and follow-up skills, as well as attention to detail.
