We are seeking a Senior SQL Server Database Administrator to join a team in managing 30+ SQL instances operating 24/7.
This role is responsible for ensuring availability and performance for over 60 databases ranging in size from a few GB to over 5TB.
The Senior Database Administrator has a wealth of experience and strong TSQL skills to troubleshoot performance and functional issues in a timely fashion.Responsibilities:Ensuring that the proper hardware resources are allocated to the databases, and to ensure high resilience and performance tuningProvide support for production and development SQL Server instances (2008R2-2016+).Troubleshoot job failures and proactively seek out and fix performance bottlenecksDeploy changes to production environmentDocument and plan changes to SQL environmentProvide code review for development teamModify and improve existing TSQL codeDesign Data structures and data flowsEnhance overall SQL server environmentAssist in movement from on-premise to cloud instancesProviding trend analysis to management team to enable them to make informed decisions regarding resource managementTroubleshooting and problem-solving SQL development issuesImplementation and release of database changes according to agreed timescales and costsOn-call / off-hours deployments and support will be requiredImprovement and maintenance of all databases, to include rollout and upgrades.Responsible for implementation and release of database changes according to agreed timescales and costsPerform other tasks and duties as requiredQualifications:Bachelor’s Degree from accredited university required, preferably in Computer Science or other related field6+ years of in-depth SQL Server Database Administration experienceExtensive experience managing multiple MS SQL 2008/2012/2016+ servers on enterprise-class servers clusters running Windows 2016/2019Strong self-sufficiency and initiative working on Database projectsExperience with T-SQL, OLAP, DTS, SSIS and stored procedures4+ years working with Availability Groups and SQL clustersHands on experience designing/ implementing/ working with AGs / Mirroring / Log shipping / backup topologiesStrong knowledge of Multi-Instance implementations and methodologiesExperience with SSIS/SSRS highly desirableExperience with MongoDB desirableExperience administering / migrating SQL Server in/to AWS or AzurePractical experience in managing internal and external Microsoft SQL Server database securityKnowledge of SQL Service BrokerUnderstanding of High Availability, Business Continuity, and Disaster Recovery concepts as they relate to Open Systems architectureExcellent verbal and written communication skillsAbility to work in a constant state of alertness and safe mannerPerform other tasks and duties as required
